  9. Repeat Steps 6 - 8 until those areas are mostly white.
  10. Heat set the image panel and thoroughly clean your brush with water.
  11. Use shimmery white watercolor paint to paint the moon. Tap the paint brush to splatter the panel witht white/silver drops and splashes.

Notes:
  • Be sure to open a window when using bleach and/or other solvents so you can avoid breathing the fumes.
  • I had a bleach pen handy and it worked relatively well. I'm going to put some laundry bleach into a small bottle and try to use that with this technique to see if it yields a different result.
  • It's a good idea to dedicate a paint brush to use with bleach to avoid contamination, etc.
  • I left the stamp on the platform and was going to re-stamp the image with Nocturne VersaFine Clair, but didn't want to fubar my project. Maybe I'll grow a pair and try that next time.
  • I had forgotten how much fun 3.5" x 5" cards are!

Thank You Card

Greetings! Saturday is my day to share a Funky Fossil Designs project. I've used their A5 Woodcut Birds Clear Stamp Set, the Vintage Patchwork 8x8 Patterned Paper Pad, a butterfly from the A6 Vintage Patchwork Rub-Ons, and a sentiment from the Sentimental Sticker Stack to create a Thank you card.

Here's it is.

Funky Fossil Products Used:

Other Products Used:
Green and Raven (Black) Textured Cardstock by Bazzill Basics
Obsidian Black Amalgam Ink by Gina K Designs
Copic Markers:
 N7, N5, N4, R46, R37, FB2, YG61, Y19, W2, W1
Black Pigma Pen by Sakura
Stamping Platform

Note: If you use the correct ink, you can often stamp onto patterned paper, then color with Copic markers. This works really well with music notation, text paper, and papers with grids like ledger paper. I wanted to see how this technique would work with a floral patterned paper. I must say that I'm very happy with the result!

Instructions:
  1. Create an A6 card from green cardstock. Set aside.
  2. Using a stamping platform,  position one of the birds from the A5 Woodcut Birds Clear Stamp Set facedown about .75" up from the bottom of a  8" x 4" piece of rose-patterned paper from the Vintage Patchwork 8x8 Patterned Paper Pad.
  3. Press the platform's lid on the back of the stamp, lift, ink the stamp with Obsidian Black Amalgam Ink, and stamp.
  4. Re-ink and stamp again to attain a good solid stamped impression.
  5. Heat set.
  6. Use Copic markers to color the open areas of the bird.
  7. Tear a plain-ish piece of off white-ish patterned paper so that it's a thin strip.
  8. Color the strip with the YG61 Copic marker.
  9. Adhere the colored patterned paper strip with the torn side up below the bird's feet to ground him.
  10. Trim the bottom of the panel.
  11. Add the rub-on butterfly from the A6 Vintage Patchwork Rub-Ons to the rose-patterned paper to the right of the bird and slightly above his sightline.
  12. Trim the image panel to 5.625" x 3.875" and edge with an N4 Copic marker.
  13. Cut black cardstock to 5.875" x 4.125" and use to mat the image panel.
  14. Adhere the matted image panel to the reserved green card.
  15. Edge the "Thank you" sentiment sticker with a black marker, then adhere the sentiment sticker to finish the card.

Notes:
  • I thought that the staticky haired girl and boy Cartoon Kids looked like they had been zapped with electricity, so I decided to tell a little story with my card.
  • I should have cut silver cardstock with the squigly/staticky line dies from the Frayed Frames Die Set 26. Alas.

Instructions:
  1. Create an A6 card from white Heavystock cardstock. Set aside.
  2. Use Obsidian Black Amalgam Ink to stamp the spiky haired girl and boy from the Cartoon Kids Rubber Stamp Set onto white cardstock.
  3. Fussy-cut the head and bodies of the kids.
  4. Color the kids with Copic and/or Olo markers.
  5. Use the silver Metallic pen to color the sweatshirt's zipper and tab.
  6. Edge the kids with a black Pigma pen and set them aside to bond.
  7. Trim a piece of the comic book page patterned paper from Comic Book Pop 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad to 4.25" x 6".
  8. Trim the sentiments you want to use from the Comic Book Pop 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad.
  9. Adhere the "When Suddenly" sentiment in the top left blue circle panel.
  10. Adhere the "So it begins" sentiment to the bottom right panel as shown.
  11. Use Obsidian Black Amalgam Ink to stamp the spiky haired girl Cartoon Kid onto the red panel.
  12. Use Obsidian Black Amalgam Ink to stamp the spiky haired boy Cartoon Kid onto the yellow orange panel.
  13. Trace the spiky hair of both the girl and the boy with Black Glaze pen to make it dimensional.
  14. Let the dimensional Glaze ink dry.
  15. Use the Mini Star Alphabet Die Set to cut the red halftone dots patterned paper from the Comic Book Pop 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad.
  16. Use the Mini Star Shadow Alphabet Die Set to cut white cardstock.
  17. Adhere the red die-cut letters onto the white shadow die-cut letters.
  18. Pounce the anti-static pouch onto a small piece of white cardstock.
  19. Place the white cardstock onto the STAY-tion.
  20. Use magnets and/or low-tack tape to secure the Circuit Stencil atop the white cardtock on the STAY-tion.
  21. Sponge Starlite Silver Brilliance Ink over the Circuit Stencil onto the white cardstock.
  22. Add Detail Silver Embossing Powder to the wet ink, pour the excess powder back into the container, and melt the powder on the panel.
  23. Use a heart die to cut the stenciled, embossed white cardstock.
  24. Use the squigly/staticky line dies from the Frayed Frames Die Set 26 to cut a scrap of black cardstock so you end up with the die-cuts.
  25. Place the comic book page background on the STAY-tion.
  26. Use a magnet to temporarily secure the heart die-cut between the top two panels of the comic book page.
  27. Adhere one squigly line die-cut diagonally from the heart angling towards the girl Cartoon Kid.
  28. Adhere another quigly line die-cut diagonally from the heart angling towards the boy Cartoon Kid.
  29. Adhere one of the squigly lines between the girl and boy Cartoon Kids.
  30. Adhere the girl Cartoon Kid atop her counterpart in the red panel and use a red Copic marker to add a shadow under her shoes to ground her (to the background). If she were electrically grounded the shock thing wouldn't have worked.
  31. Adhere the boy Cartoon Kid atop his counterpart in the yellow/orange panel as shown.
  32. Adhere the "ZAP" sentiment die-cuts to the upper right panel as shown.
  33. Adhere the card front to the reserved white A6 card.
