Gear Up - A Steampunk Card

It's Topflight Stamps Tuesday and an "Anything Goes" week, so I created a Steampunk card with the Faceless Time Clear Stamp Set 1456, the Papillons Clear Stamp Set 1462, the Frise Pendentifs Clear Stamp Set 1461, and the Time Tinker Clear Stamp Set 1374 as well as the Cog Engine Die Set 125 and the Frayed Frames Die Set 26 — all by AALL and Create. The background panel and die-cuts were created with Steampunk Soiree Magical Pigment Powders by Lindy's Stamp Gang, applied with baby wipes to Bristol paper.

Stamping Platform

Instructions:

1. Create a 5" x 7" card from black textured cardstock. Set aside.
2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the focal image from the Faceless Time Clear Stamps 1456 onto a panel of Bristol paper. 
3. Heat set the ink, then color the image with Copic markers. 
4. Use a White Gelly Roll Gel pen to add highlights to the hourglass.
5. Use the largest die from the Frayed Frames Die Set 26 to cut the image panel, mat the panel with black cardstock, and set it aside.
6. Cut a piece of 9" x 12" Bristol paper into a 4.75" x 6.75" panel (for the background panel) and a 2" x 12" strip (for border and sentiment die-cuts).
7. Place the strip onto a craft mat. 
8. Use a small spatula to place a pile of Yesteryear Yellow Magical Powder from the Steampunk Soiree Magical Pigment Powder Set onto the craft mat. 
9. Fold a baby wipe and press the top part of it into the pigment powder. 
10. Drag the baby wipe vertically on the strip of Bristol paper to start to apply the Magical Pigment Powder, working from the outside edges towards the center. Dip the wipe into the powder and apply it again. Continue until the powder pile is gone and your Bristol strip is colored. Clean your craft mat.
11. Use a spatula to place a smaller pile of Canna Lily Burnt Orange Magical Pigment Powder onto the craft mat. 
12. Using a new baby wipe, press the top of the wipe into the pigment powder, then drag the baby wipe down the strip of Mixed Media paper to fill in the gaps.
13. Continue to dip the wipe and drag it down the strip until the powder is gone.
14. Clean your craft mat.
15. Repeat the above process using an even smaller amount of Tophat Teal from the the Steampunk Soiree Magical Pigment Powder Set to add some verdigris colors to the Bristol Strip. When the colors and blend please you, thoroughly heat set the panel and trim it in half (2" x 6".
16. Use the both dies from the Cog Engine Die Set 125 to cut the colored Bristol paper strip. 
17. Flip the die-cuts over and color the back with a black Copic marker or sponge them with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink.  This step will edge the die-cuts from the back.
18. Place the 4.75" x 6.75" panel and a small scrap of Bristol paper onto a clean craft mat. 
19. Use a spatula to add a pile of Pocket Watch Pewter Magical Powder onto the clean craft mat. 
20. Press the top of a clean baby wipe onto the pigment powder, then drag the baby wipe onto the Bristol paper panel and scrap, working from the outer edges towards the center. 
21. Dip the wipe into the powder and continue to apply color to the panels. When done, heat set the panels thoroughly.
22. Pounce an anti-static tool/pouch onto the background panel then secure the panel onto the base of a stamping platform with magnets and/or low-tack tape.
23. Position the corner gears stamp from the Papillons Clear Stamp Set 1462  facedown along the top left of the panel. 
24. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the corner gears stamp and lift.
25. Ink the stamp with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. 
26. Remove the panel from the stamping platform, add Clear Gloss Embossing Powder to the wet ink, dump the excess powder back into the container, and heat set. 
27. Clean and dry the corner gears stamp. 
28. Place the background panel back onto the stamping platform and position the the corner gears stamp from the Papillons Clear Stamp Set 1462 facedown along the lower right hand edge. 
29. Position the border gears stamp from the Frise Pendentifs Clear Stamp Set 1461 facedown vertically along the bottom left hand edge. 
30. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamps and lift.
31. Ink the stamps with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. 
32. Remove the panel from the stamping platform, add Clear Gloss Embossing Powder to the wet ink, dump the excess powder back into the container, and heat set. 
33. Edge the background panel with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink.
34. Use a nameplate cutting die and a small gears die to cut the grey-colored scrap of Bristol paper.
35. Place a piece of low-tack tape on the back of the Bristol paper scrap die-cut. and then secure the die-cut scrap onto the base of a stamping platform. 
36. Position the "Gear Up" stamp from the Time Tinker Clear Stamp Set 1374 facedown onto the die-cut. 
37. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. 
38. Remove the die-cut from the stamping platform.
39. Pour Clear Gloss Embossing Powder onto the wet ink, dump the excess powder back into the container, and heat set.
40. Use the nameplate frame die and a small gears die to cut a leftover scrap from the rusty yellow tinted border strip. 
41. Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink to edge both parts of the nameplate die-cuts, then adhere the sentiment die-cut onto the frame die-cut. 
42. Adhere the gears die-cuts to cover the holes of the nameplate.
43. Adhere the border die-cut to the right side of the background panel. 
44. Adhere the matted image panel onto the background panel as shown. 
45. Adhere the sentiment nameplate die-cut to the upper left of the background panel. 
46. Adhere the completed card front to the reserved 5" x 7" black card.

Stamping Platform

Instructions:

1. Create a 7" x 5" from grey cardstock. Set aside.
2. Apply the Techno Tweet Layer It Up Washi Tape 124  to Mixed Media paper. I ended up making four copies because I was on a roll.
3. Irregularly cut around the image, except for the ends of the pipe which were closely trimmed. 
4. Use a black pen to edge the image panel. Set aside.
5. Brush Soft Cygnet Elements Ink onto the top portion of a 7" x 5" piece of Mixed Media paper to create a background panel. 
6. Brush Bermuda Elements Ink onto the bottom and sides of the panel. 
7. Use a water-filled Fine Spray Misters to mist the panel. Heat set. 
8. Brush Mermaid and Blue Atoll Elements Inks along the bottom part of the panel. 
9. Mist and heat set again. 
10. Brush Lemon Drop Elements Ink onto the splotchy areas. 
11. Thoroughly heat set the panel and flatten it as much as possible.
12. Trim the panel to 6.75" by 4.75" and place it onto the base of a stamping platform. 
13. Position the Garden Gears Clear Stamp Set 1229 facedown on the right side of the background panel. 
14. Use low-tack tape to cover the flower on the stamp, ink the tape-covered stamp with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink, remove the tape, and stamp. 
15. Position the Multilayered Cogs Clear Stamp 664 facedown in the center of the background panel then stamp with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink. 
16. Position the cogs stamp from the Flowers and Cogs Clear Stamp Set 195 on the left side and stamp with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink. 
17. Use Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink to edge the panel, then heat set the entire panel.
18. Use Russet Orange Elements Inks to ink a small piece of Mixed Media paper. Heat set it. 
19. Spray the inked paper with Cattail Copper Brown Stardust Spray from the Autumn Leaves Stardust Spray Set and heat set. 
20. Use the Nails and Screws cutting die to cut the paper and use a silver metallic pen to add additional detail.
21. Use the Steampunk Pipes cutting die set to cut cut the faucet, the gauge, and the pipes. 
22. Brush a small piece of Mixed Media paper with Soft Cygnet Elements Ink. 
23. Use the gauge die to cut it to create the gauge's face. 
24. Use a black marker to edge all the die-cuts and a black fine-liner to emphasize the embossed details.
25. Adhere the Techno Tweet Layer It Up Washi Tape image panel to the background panel. 
26. Adhere the screws and nails die-cuts as shown. 
27. Adhere the faucet to the right side of the Washi-Tape pipe and the pipes and gauges to the left side of the Washi-Tape pipe. 
28. Use a stamping platform and Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink to add the sentiments from the Love Birds Clear Stamp Sest 155 to the card front. 
29. Adhere the card front to the reserved grey 7" x 5" card. 
30. Adhere the clear red heart epoxy stickers to finish the card.

Stamping Platform

Instructions:

1. Create an A6 card from Ruby Slippers Textured Cardstock. Set aside.
2. Use a blending brush to apply Spun Candy Elements Ink to a 9" x 6" panel of Mixed Media paper. When there's no more ink on the brush, lightly brush Pink Elephant Elements Ink around the edges towards the center of the panel, blending as you go. Finish the ink application by brushing Confetti Elements Ink overtop. 
3. Use a Fine Spray Mister to mist with water which will add mottling and spotting to the panel, then heat set. 
4. Cut the panel in half to yield two 4.5" x 6" panels.
5. Place one of the inked panels onto the base of a stamping platform and secure with magnets and/or low-tack tape. 
6. Place the Background Script with Hearts Clear Polymer Stamp facedown in the center of the panel. 
7. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if needed to attain a good impression. 
8. Remove the stamped background panel from the platform and heat set.
9. Cut the remaining 4.5" x 6" panel to yield a 2.5" x 6" panel and a 2" x 6" panel.
10. Secure the 2.5" wide panel to the base of the stamping platform. 
11. Place the Heart Small Clear Polymer Stamp facedown on the top of the panel.
12. Ink the Heart Small Clear Polymer Stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. 
13. Flip the panel 180°, ink the Heart Stamp again, and stamp. 
14. Remove the panel from the platform and heat set.
15. Secure the 2" wide panel to the base of the stamping platform. 
16. Place the Texture 2 Clear Polymer Stamp facedown on the panel.
17. Ink it with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. 
18. Flip the panel 180°, ink the Texture 2 Stamp again, and stamp. 
19. Remove the panel and heat set. 
20. Place all four panels into a box. 
21. Lightly spray Brushed Nickel Glitz Spritz from the Glitz Spritz Spray Set onto all four panels. Heat set.
22. Smoosh the Emperor Red Elements Ink pad onto a craft mat. 
23. Use a waterbrush or small paintbrush to color the hearts on the stamped Background Script with Hearts panel. 
24. Use an A6 Rectangle Die to cut the panel, then edge it with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink. 
25. Secure the Background Script with Hearts panel die-cut to the base of a stamping platform. 
26. Place the "Happy Valentine's Day" sentiment stamp from the Classic Sentiments Clear Stamp Set facedown on the bottom of the panel as shown. 
27. Ink the stamp with VersaMark Ink and stamp. 
28. Ink the stamp with Emperor Red Elements Ink and stamp. 
29. Remove the die-cut from the stamping platform. 
30. Add clear detail embossing powder to the wet ink, dump the excess back into its container, and heat set.
31. Use a Flag Die to cut the 2" x 6" panel that was stamped with the Texture 2 Clear Polymer Stamp.
32. Edge the flag die-cut with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and adhere the stamped flag to the Background Script with Hearts panel die-cut.
33. Fussy-cut both hearts and edge them with a black pen. 
34. Use a Red Berry Glitter Pen to add red to the hearts. 
35. Adhere the fussy-cut hearts to the flag die-cut as shown. 
36. Secure the leftover piece of inked Mixed Media paper onto the base of a stamping platform. 
37. Place the "With Love and Sympathy" sentiment stamp facedown onto the paper.
38. Lift the platform's lid. 
39. Cover the words "with" and "and Sympathy" with Post-It Notes. 
40. Ink the stamps with VersaMark ink, remove the Post-It Notes, and stamp the word "Love". 
41. Place the Post-It Notes back over the same words again. 
42. Ink the "Love" stamp with Emperor Red Elements Ink, and stamp. 
43. Remove the stamped piece from the stamping platform, add clear detail embossing powder to the wet ink, dump the excess back into its container, and heat set. 
44. Use a flag die to cut the sentiment, edge it with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink, and adhere it between the hearts on the cardfront as shown.
45. Use the small gear die to cut black metallic cardstock. 
46. Adhere the gears to the top of the flag then add small red rhinestones to their centers.
47. Cut a piece of black metallic cardstock with the next largest die from the A6 Rectangle Die set and use to mat the cardfront/image panel die-cut. 
48. Adhere the matted card front to the reserved red A6 card.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 4: A Much Misunderstood Gentleman

Greetings! I returned from vacation and promptly came down with the flu and a dreadful ear infection. Then I threw myself in to cleaning the house and preparing for a 140th birthday party. You read that right. A friend from college, who I met Freshman year, shares my birthday. We turned 18 together and celebrated our 30th birthdays together. So we decided to celebrate the fourtieth anniversary of our 30th Birthday this year! The party was great fun. Sadly, my birthday twin was feeling under the weather, though he rallied for the party. Two days later, he tested positive for Covid. My husband and I hadn't been feeling great, but atttributed it to talking so much and exhaustion from running around like lunatics prior to the party. Alas, we were wrong and had Covid. We only passed it to our daughter, our nephew, and our niece-in-law. Fortunately, they're young-uns, so they got over it quickly. Not like certain newly old people. This version of Covid was like a bad head cold with a nasty cough and exhaustion. I didn't make it into my craft room for almost a month. 

Therefore, this card shows how rusty I got in my card-making skills. Stamping Platform

Instructions:

1. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink was used to stamp the Clown with Balloon twice — once onto the bottom of a 6" square image panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper. 
2. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it atop its counterpart as a mask.
3. Place the Cob Web stencil was over the image panel and secure with low-tack tape to the Glassboard.
4. Place the outside part of the Drippy Arch Stencil over the Cobweb Stencil on the image panel and secure with magnets.
5. Sponge Fossilized Amber, Barn Door, and Black Soot Distress ink over the over the combined stencils and the mask to create a spider web in a cave scenic background. 
6. Remove the stencils and place the interior part of the Drippy Arch stencil over the center part of the image panel to cover the webby cave interior. Secure the stencil with magnets.
7. Sponge or Brush Hickory Smoke and Pumice Stone Distress Inks over the stencil. 
8. Use a stipple brush  to pounce Aged Mahogany, Barn Door, Rusty Hinge, and Fossilized Amber Distress Ink over the newly inked background and the stencil. 
9. Use another stipple brush to pounce Light Grey Distress Oxide Ink over the the background and the stencil to create a mottled look.
10. Remove the stencil and the mask over the Clown.
11. Use Copic markers to color the Clown with Balloon image.
12. Use a white pencil  to add highlights to the balloon. 
13. The white spiderweb was too stark and the Clown with Balloon did not stand out sufficiently, so I used yellow Copic markers to color them. Much better.
14. I also wasn't thrilled with athe way the drippy arch looked so I used a black marker to outline the drippy bits which helped.
15. Trim the image panel to 5 5/8" square and use the corner-rounder punch on the top corners.
16. Edge the image panel with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink.
17. Cut Off-white cardstock, that matches the Clown with Balloon's face,  to 5 3/4" square and use it to mat the image panel.
18. Cut Off-white cardstock with a Spiders Die (cuts 5 spiders at once).
19. Detail the spiders with E40 and E41 Copic markers. 
20. Fold the spiders' legs under the spiders' bodies. (I never thought I'd write that sentence).
21. Adhere the spiders to the spider web with dimensional foam adhesive under their bellies and glue on the end of their legs.
22. Adhere the image panel to a 6" square black card.
23. Adhere an appropriate sticker  under the Clown with Balloon's fee.
24. Use low-tack tape to secure the "Happy Halloween" debossing dies facedown  on the top of the card as shown.
25. Run the card through the die-cut machine to deboss the sentiment, which will finish the card.

Instructions:

1. Create a 3.5" x 5" card from Raven cardstock. Set aside.
2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp Bat Boy onto white cardstock. 
3. Fussy-cut him, color him with Copic markers, then edge him with a black marker. 
4. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to his eyes. Set him aside.
5. Place a panel of white cardstock onto the STAY-tion.
6. Use low-tack tape to cover the sun and the clouds in the center of the Sun and Cloud Stencil.
7. Place the Sun and Cloud Stencil towards the top of the panel.
8. Sponge or brush Blue Lagoon,  Dark Denim, and Graphite Elements Ink over the top of the stencil onto the white cardstock.
9. Rotate the stencil and move it downwards.
10. Brush the same inks over the top of the stencil onto the cardstock panel.
11. Repeat Steps 8 and 9 until the panel has become a cloudy night sky background panel..
12. Cover the larger bats on the top of the Dinky Bats stencil with low-tack tape.
13. Position the bottom part of the Dinky Bats stencil onto the top right of the cloudy sky background panel. 
14. Sponge Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink over the stencil onto the background panel.
15. Clean and dry the stencil.
16. Move the Dinky Bat stencil down to the left side of the background panel. 
17. Sponge Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink over the stencil onto the background panel.
18. Clean and dry the stencil.
19. Move the Dinky Bat stencil down and to the right side of the background panel. 
20. Sponge Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink over the stencil onto the background panel.
21. You should now have three sets of bats who are Bat Boy's friends.
22. Sponge black ink over a dot patterned stencil to add flight trails to the sky. 
23. Use a black glitter pen to add glittery accents to the dots.
24. Adhere Bat Boy as shown.
25. Edge the background panel with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and adhere to the reserved black card. 
26. Adhere the Small Talk Sticker to finish the card.

Greetings! Saturday is my day to share a project for Funky Fossil Designs and since it's the first day of March, I was inspired by the adage "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb". I googled the saying and apparently it goes back centuries. 

Here's my card created with the lion from the Steampunk Safari Clear Stamp Set from the Steampunk Menagerie Collection by Belinda Basson for Funky Fossil Designs.

Instructions:

1. Create a 5" x 7" card from grey cardstock. Set aside.
2. Use Obsidian Black Amalgam Ink to stamp the lion from the Steampunk Safari Clear Stamp Set twice — once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper.
3. Use alcohol markers to color the lion.
4. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version of the lion and place it over its counterpart on the image panel.
5. Use a rectangle die to cut the image panel.
6. Brush Hoodie Ink over the masked image onto the die-cut image panel to color the white background. 
7. Randomly brush Rusty Hinge and Fossilized Amber Distress Ink over the masked image onto the die-cut image panel to add rusty touches.
8. Secure the die-cut image panel to the STAY-tion with magnets and/or low-tack tape.
9. Position the Cogs and Gears Mask over the die-cut image panel and secure with magnets. 
10. Brush Hoodie ink over the Cogs and Gears Mask and the masked image onto the die-cut image panel.
11. Reposition the Cogs and Gears Mask and brush Hoodie ink over the mask to add additional gears to the die-cut image panel.
12. Remove and clean the Cogs and Gears Mask, but keep the mask over the lion.
13. Use stipple brushes to pounce Persimmon, Rusty Hinge, and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Inks over the to the die-cut image panel.
14. Edge die-cut image panel with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink.
15. Heat set the die-cut image panel.
16. Remove the mask from the lion so he can see again and set the die-cut image panel aside.
17. Cut a piece of rusty/teal patterned paper from the Mixed Media Compendium 8x8 Patterned Paper Pad so that it's .25" larger than the die-cut image panel,  edge with Lightning Black Brilliance Ink, and heat set. This will become the first mat layer.
18. Cut a piece of teal/blue patterned paper from the Rust and Relics 8x8 Patterned Paper Pad so that it's .5" larger than the first mat layer. This is the second mat layer.
19. Edge the patterned paper (Step 18) with Lightning Black Brilliance Ink, and heat set.
20. Cut a piece of rust/grey/white streaked patterned paper from the Rust and Relics 8x8 Patterned Paper Pad so that it's .25" larger than the 2nd mat layer. This is the third mat layer.
21. Edge with Lightning Black Brilliance Ink, and heat set.
22. Adhere the image panel die-cut with the first mat layer (Step 17).
23. Adhere the matted image panel with the second mat layer (Step 18), which will create a .25" mat.
24. Adhere the double matted image panel to the third mat layer (Step 20).
25. Set the triple matted image panel aside.
26. Cut a piece of patterned paper (with light blue and numbers) to 4.75" x 6.75" to create the card's background.
27. Place the patterned paper onto the STAY-tion.
28. Place the Cogs and Gears Mask over the patterned paper panel and secure with magnets.
29. Brush Lightning Black Brilliance Ink over the Cogs and Gears Mask.
30. Move the Cogs and Gears Mask and brush Lightning Black Brilliance Ink over the mask again to add additional gears.
31. Remove the Cogs and Gears Mask and heat set the background panel.
32. Use Lightning Black Brilliance Ink to edge the background panel. Heat set.
33. Use the window nameplate from the Specimen Slides Die Set to cut a piece of rust/grey/white streaked patterned paper from the Rust and Relics 8x8 Patterned Paper Pad left over from Step 20.
34. Use the closed window nameplate from the Specimen Slides Die Set to cut black cardstock.
35. Use a black pen to edge a sticker from the Sentimental Sticker Stack, then adhere the sticker to the black cardstock nameplate die-cut.
36. Adhere the patterned paper window nameplate die-cut over the black nameplate.
37. Edge the nameplate with Lightning Black Brilliance Ink. Heat Set.
38. Color white cardstock with the YR18 and YR24 Copics.
39. Use the tiny gears die to cut the colored cardstock twice.
40. Adhere the background panel to the grey card.
41. Adhere the matted image panel die-cut to the card as shown.
42. Adhere the sentiment nameplate die-cut as shown.
43. Adhere the two tiny gear die-cuts to finish the card.
