Instructions:

Step 1:

Place a piece of low-tack tape horizontally across a piece of Mixed Media paper. Place the Cloud Edger stencil slightly below the top of the paper. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Summer Sky Memento Ink over the top of the stencil. Move the stencil downwards and rotate it, then apply Summer Sky Memento ink over the top. Repeat until the cloudy sky is complete.

Step 2:

Tear a piece of scrap cardstock and place the torn edge horizontally under the cloudy sky, secured with low-tack tape. Flip the panel 180°. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply a light layer of Teal Zeal Memento Ink to cover the bottom portion of the panel.

Step 3:

Place the Water Ripples stencil over the sponged teal area and secure with low-tack tape. Use the Sponge Dauber to apply Teal Zeal Memento Inks over the stencil onto the image panel. Trim the panel to 5.25” x 7.75”.

Step 4:

Secure the image panel to the base of a stamping platform. Position the Caravelle stamp facedown on the top left of the image panel so that the bit of ocean at the bottom of the stamp is even with the top of the sponged sea. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression. Remove the stamp from the platform.

Step 5:

Position the Open Sea Quote Stamp facedown on the lower right part of the image panel. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary. Remove the stamp and the image panel from the platform. Heat set the image panel.

Step 6:

Use pens to color the Caravelle. Sorry that there are no photos.

Step 7:

Use Tear-It! Tape to adhere the image panel to a piece of 5.5” x 8” black chipboard or heavy weight cardstock.

Step 8:

Wrap twine twice around the base of the piece and tie a knot.

Penguins Go to the Shore

It's Tuesday, which means that it's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps! This week, my TFS teammates and I are sharing summer-themed projects. Be sure to pop over to the Topflight Stamps blog throughout the week to see my teammies' artwork. BTW, if you'd like to get 12% off your order at Topflight Stamps use THIS LINK.

As you may or may not know, I love penguins and have a sizable collection of penguin stamps and penguin stuffed animals! So, when I saw the fun and fabulous new Penguins Unmounted Rubber Stamp set by Katzelkraft, that features seven adorable penguins in a variety of poses, I knew I had to have it!

Here's my first card with one of the penguins who is body surfing on a warm summer day.

Here's my second card. This time two of the penguins are playing in the sand. The poor penguin on the right got a bad sunburn. Poor dear!

For the Summertime Sea Card:

  2. Fussy-cut the label paper image to create a mask and placed the mask over the penguin on the white cardstock.
  3. Place the image panel onto the STAY-tion and secure it with magnets.
  4. Place the ruler horizontally over the bottom of the image and sponge Periwinkle Prism Ink, Pink Jellybean Prism ink, and the lightest yellow from the Yellow Ombre Prism inkpad  over the clouds portion of the Great Outdoors 6x6 Stencil by Polkadoodles.
  5. When the "sky" meets with your approval, reposition the ruler so that the sky is covered.
  6. Sponge Tumbled Glass Distress ink over the bottom part of the image panel to create the "sea".
  7. Place the Water Ripples Stencil over the image panel, secure with magnets, and sponge Salty Ocean over the stencil to create waves.
  8. Remove the image panel from the STAY-tion, lift the masks (reserving them for another use), and color the penguin with Copic markers.
  9. Touch up the sea with Copic markers as desired.
  10. Add the Rain-Dots stickers as shown
  11. Add white gel pen dots to the right of the penguin's flippers.
  12. Trim image panel and mat with black cardstock.
  13. Adhere the image panel to a blue A2 card.
  14. Adhere the sentiment sticker to finish the card.
For the Beach-Sea Side Card
  1. Cut a 12x12 piece of Paper Bag cardstock in half. Score one sheet at 6" and fold to form a 6" square card.
  2. Trim the other piece of Paper Bag cardstock to 5 5/8" square.
  3. Stamp the sentiment from the JOFY #16 set at the bottom as shown, mat this piece with a piece of aqua cardstock cut to 5.75" square, and adhere to the card front.
  4. Use Memento ink to stamp the reclining penguin onto the right side of a piece of white cardstock and onto label paper.
  5. Fussy-cut the label paper and place the mask atop its counterpart.
  6. Stanp the standing penguin onto the left side of the image panel and onto mask paper.
  7. Fussy-cut the standing penguin label paper and place the mask over its counterpart.
  8. This step was repeated with the sand castle and the row of beach cabanas from the JOFY #16 stamp set..
  9. When all masks are positioned over the counterparts, place the image panel onto the STAY-tion, secure it with magnets, and place the magnetic ruler horizontally over the cabanas.
  10. Sponge Periwinkle Prism Ink, Pink Jellybean Prism ink, and the lightest yellow from the Yellow Ombre Prism inkpad over the clouds portion of the Great Outdoors 6x6 Stencil to create a cloudy sky.
  11. When the "sky" meets with your approval, reposition the ruler so that the sky is covered.
  12. Sponge Desert Sand Memento ink over the bottom part of the image panel to create a sandy beach.
  13. Sponge Pumice Stone Distress ink under the penguins and sandcastle to ground them a bit.
  14. Lift all masks and color the images with Copic markers.
  15. Using a Copic friendly pen like the Triplus Fineliners, draw a few beach plants around the cabanas. You couldn't do a worse job then I did!
  16. Use a silver metallic pen  to color the cottage doorknobs and the horseshoe on the cabana.
  17. Trim the image panel and double mat.
  18. Adhere the image panel to finish the card.
