Magical!

Here's my third my third card for the  Lost Coast Designs Portal to Creativity August Children's Challenge! I used the Manga Goth Harlequin Stamp to create my card. I just love the edginess of these Manga Goth Girls! There are seven different 5" tall Manga Goth Girl stamps available PLUS there is a small set with six 3.5" tall versions!

Stamping Platform

Instructions:

1. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the Manga Goth Harlequin Stamp twice — once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper. 
2. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and set aside.
3. Use Copic markers to color the Manga Goth Harlequin Stamp.
4. Use the reserved fussy-cut mask and place it over its counterpart on the image panel.
5. Place low-tack tape horizontally across the bottom of the image panel.
6. Brush Pebble (grey) ink across the masked image and the tape to create a grey background. 
7. Use low-tack tape and magnets to secure the Rotating Rings stencil over the inked image panel on the STAY-tion. 
8. Brush or sponge Pebble ink over the stencil, the masked image, and the horizontal tape to create a tone on tone effect.
9. Remove the Rotating Rings stencil, keeping the image panel on the STAY-tion.
10. Place the Cabbage Rose stencil onto the image panel so that one of the stencil's roses would be in the smallest ring and the rose's leaves and stem would trail off the right side of the image panel. 
11. Place low-tack tape over the other roses. 
12. Brush or sponge Skylight (teal) ink over the stencil and masked image to color the rose, leaves, and stem.
13. Use a rough stippling brush (formerly known as a pouncy tool) was used to randomly pounce Skylight (teal) ink across the masked image onto the top part of the image panel.
14. Remove the strip of low-tack tape from the bottom orizon line
15. Brush or sponge Pebble ink  over the tape to create a floor to ground the image.
16. Remove the mask from the Manga Goth Harlequin Girl.
17. Brush or sponge Skylight (teal) ink onto a small piece of white cardstock.
18. Use the "Magical" word die  to cut the inked cardstock.
19. Adhere the die-cut to the image panel as shown. 
20. Trim the  image panel to 4.75" x 6.75".
21. Edge the image panel with the Skylight (teal) ink.
22. Create a 5" x 7" card from white cardstock. 
23. Smoosh Skylight (teal) ink onto the outside .5" periphery of the card to create a perfectly matching card.
24. Adhere the image panel to the the now-teal card to finish the project.

Instructions:

1. Stamp Llama with Tuxedo Black ink, color with Copic markers, fussy-cut, and then edge with a black pen.
2. Apply double-sided tape to vellum and die-cut with the speech bubble die.
3. Stamp sentiment onto the bubble using Palette@ Noir ink.
4. Cut blue patterned paper to 5.5" x 4.5"
5. Die-cut green patterned paper with the border dies, sponge the edges with Distress inks.
6. Layer border die-cuts and adhere to card front. Trim the card front to 4.25", then adhere to an A2 card.
7. Adhere the sentiment thought bubble, trim off the top and outline with a thin black pen.
8. Adhere the llavender llama!

My card was inspired by a National Geographic special about the birds of the rain forest. As I watched it,  I was joined by a feline friend, who got very involved with the show.

Here's my card with Agatha's Parrot (Magda Polakow) and For the Birds (Janet Klein).

Here's the photo that inspired the parrot on the card.

Agatha's Parrot was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink (Imagine Crafts), colored with Copic markers, fussy-cut, and edged with a Black Pitt Artist pen (Faber Castell). Agatha's Parrot was set aside while I created the other elements.

Black, silver, and white cardstock were die-cut with the TV Shaker dies (Simon Says Stamp). Green cardstock was die-cut with a Foliage Corner die, then detailed with a VersaMarker pen (Imagine Crafts).

The leaves were adhered to blue cardstock, then Agatha's Parrot was adhered. The TV Shaker dies were assembled.

Black cardstock was die-cut with the Happy, Birthday, Merry, Christmas Small Words die set (All Occasions), the "s" from the Small Alphabet die set (All Occasions), and the Large Pouncing Cat die (Poppy Stamps).

The Large Pouncing Cat die-cut was detailed with a White Pitt Artist pen and a Green Stardust Glitter pen (Sakura).

Wood-patterned Washi tape was adhered to a piece of subtly patterned cardstock (Graphic 45) and the die-cut sentiment was adhered. For the Birds (Janet Klein) was stamped with Jet Black StazOn ink (Imagine Crafts) on the Washi tape.

White vellum was die-cut with a small rectangle from the A2 Card Creator Nestabilities die set (Spellbinders), then adhered to the card front. The television and antenna were adhered. The card was edged with Black Soot Distress ink then adhered to a white card.

I don't know if I'll do any more of this series, so I figured I'd let you see some more of this series of photographs. I took a lot of photos of Flash with the tv birds in between fits of giggles as it was such a funny thing to watch. The best part was when he looked behind the television to see if more birds were hiding there.

#STAMPtember and Anything Goes/Christmas Twist!

This week's the challenge at The Outlawz Coloring Challenges is Anything Goes with an optional Christmas twist! Carla, Penny, Karen, Vannessa, and I challenge you to create a project for this challenge. You should check out their blogs to see their gorgeous artwork.

I was lucky enough to receive a stamp set to sneak peek for Simon Says Stamp's STAMPtember Stamp party. 

Here's my card with Simon Says Stamp's Warm Christmas Wishes!

Santa from the Warm Christmas Wishes stamp set (Simon Says Stamp)was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink (Tsukineko/Imagine Crafts) onto Neenah cardstock and Eclipse Tape (Judikins). The Eclipse Tape version was fussy-cut and placed over Santa. The surfboard, included in the set, was positioned and stamped onto the scene. It was also stamped onto Eclipse Tape and fussy-cut. The table and tropical drink were stamped to complete the scene. Santa's mask was removed and Santa, the surfboard, and the drink table were colored with Copic markers. 

Santa and his surfboard were masked, some reserved die-cut cloud masks were positioned in the sky area, and the sky was airbrushed with a B21 Copic marker and the airbrush system. The masks were removed, the clouds were detailed, and the sea and the sandy beach were colored with Copic markers. A White Inkssentials Gel pen (Ranger) was used to add some white caps and motion to the sea. A White Gelly pen (Sakura) was used to add a white highlight to the surfboard.

White Glossy cardstock (Ranger) was die-cut with the Polaroid Cover-up die (Die-namics). A strip of washi tape (source unknown) was added. The Polaroid Cover-up was positioned over the beach scene and layered onto a red A2 card.

White patterned cardstock was die-cut with the cloud bubble die, one of the dies included in the Talk Bubbles 2 die set (Simon Says Stamp).  After a bit of masking, "Warm Christmas Wishes", the sentiment included in the stamp set was stamped onto the cloud bubble. 

I decided that an additional sentiment was needed and found the perfect one "all is calm" on a Christmastime Remnant Rub (Ranger). An old QuicKutz die was used to die-cut white cardstock, stamped with "Ho, Ho, Ho" stamp (Hero Arts) with Lady Bug Memento ink (Tsukineko/Imagine Crafts). "All is calm" was rubbed onto the stamped die-cut, adhered over the washi tape, and two red rhinestones were added to finish the card.

I honestly don't know what's been going on with my brain lately. I'll actually complete a project on time, then either forget to take a photo of it or forget to post it. Or both. This was a case of both.

Here's my card for the Animal challenge with Foxy (Kate Crane), Henny Penny (Kira Nichols), Rootie Toot (Kira Nichols), "Grounded" from Barcode Text 2 (France Papillon), "Incident Report" from Barcode Text 2 (France Papillon), and "Approach with Caution" (Kate Crane).

Foxy, Henny Penny, and Rootie Toot were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink (Tsukineko/Imagine Crafts), colored with Copic markers, fussy-cut, then edged with a Black Pitt Artist Brush pen (Faber Castell). They were set aside while I worked on their background.

Brown cardstock was die-cut twice with dies from the A2 Card Creator Nestabilities die set (Spellbinders). One of the rectangles was die-cut again to create a frame. This frame was detailed with Polychromos pencils (Faber Castell) to make the brown cardstock look woodier. 

Silver metallic cardstock (Recollections) was die-cut with the Chicken Wire die (Die-Namics), then adhered to the back of the frame. Dimensional adhesive was attached to the back of the combination of the frame and chicken wire. 

Some raffia was adhered to the bottom of the solid brown rectangle, then Foxy was adhered. A VersaMarker was used to outline Foxy to create a shadow behind him. The chicken wire frame was adhered over Foxy, trapping him in a chicken coop!

Red cardstock was cut to a bit wider than the rectangle, detailed with colored pencils, and smudgily edged with Black Soot Distress ink (Ranger). The top of the rectangle was was scored, then adhered flush at the top of the rectangle. Several layers of dimensional foam adhesive was added to create depth on the lower part of the rectangle to make it look more like a roof.

"Grounded" was stamped onto white cardstock, die-cut with one of the thought bubble dies from the Talk Bubbles die set (Simon Says Stamp),  and sponged with Black Soot Distress ink (Ranger). The stamped talk bubble was adhered to the roof over Foxy's head.

"Incident Report" and "Approach with Caution were stamped onto one of the sheets from the White Basics (Basic Grey) 6x6 pad, die-cut with two different rectangle dies from the A2 Card Creator Nestabilities set, sponged with Black Soot Distress ink, and adhered to the top of the card. Staples from my Tiny Attacher (Idea-ology) were add a further detail.

A strip of brown cardstock was cut, sponged with Black Soot Distress ink, popped up on dimensional adhesive, and added to the base of the newly constructed chicken coop. Henny Penny, and Rootie Toot were adhered chicken coop, and the chicken coop was adhered to a scrap of patterned blue cardstock (Club Scrap). The card front was adhered to a card and I called it done!

Here's my card featuring Pengie,who is one of SCACD's fabulous digital stamps !

 

Pengie was resized in PhotoElements and twinned (via Duplicate Layer). The twin was flipped, then positioned so that he was slightly behind his twin brother. The twins were printed out onto Neenah cardstock using my laser printer, then colored with Copic markers.

The patterned papers are from an old 6x6 pad by Basic Grey and the layout was based on a sketch from The Pink Elephant Challenge blog. An old Doodlebug button was threaded with black embroidery floss. Washi tape was colored with Copic markers to match the penguins. My Talk Bubbles die-cut by Simon Says Stamp was used to die-cut a label from red cardstock. The sentiment and the stars are from an Idea-ology Remnant Rubs sheet that I won last year!

Ciao! It's a Color Challenge!

 Here's my project, using the Vespa rider from Kraftin' Kimmie's Let the Good Times Roll set. 

I had to have the  Let the Good Times Roll set because it had the Vespa rider. I've always found something funny about these scooters and that was exacerbated after seeing Eddie Izzard's Dressed to Kill special, where he did a hilarious bit about Italy. I got out this set and used that image because we're going to see Eddie Izzard's Force Majeure show this Saturday. I'm stoked.

 Anyway, the Vespa rider was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. The image panel was die-cut using a Circles Nestabilities die. The cardstock was cut using my trusty old CM Cutting System. The patterned paper is from the Maritime 6x6 pad by 7 Gypsies. The corner die-cut is SCACD's Contempo Compass Statement Corner. Ancient Doodlebug rub-ons were used to add the "Ciao" sentiment to the Talk Bubbles die-cut by Simon Says Stamp.

Oh Gnome! Not another bad Gnome pun?

Yes, indeed. I had to do it. I do love my puns and any sort of word play. And I had a new gnome to play with, specifically Gnomey Peter, a digi stamp from Make It Crafty, the sponsor April's challenges at the Outlawz Alcohol Marker Group.

So without further ado, here my bad pun card!

Gnomey Peter was resized in PhotoElements and printed out onto Neenah cardstock using my laser printer. He was colored with Copic markers, then fussy-cut.

Since I had to make a holiday card and since that raised finger made me think he was issuing a warning, I decided to play a bit with the song Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. I googled and after a while, finally found free downloadable sheet music for the song. PhotoElements was used to erase the existing song lyrics and I typed in a substitution. The music was printed out onto regular old printer paper and airbrushed with Copic markers to make it all matchy, matchy with my coloring. Some patterned paper from an old My Mind's Eye 6x6 Christmas-themed pad was adhered to the bottom to "ground" Gnomey Peter. Pine Needles Distress ink was used along the edges of the papers and the piece was adhered to a green card. The final touch was to add ancient transfer type to a Talk Bubbles die-cut by Simon Says Stamp.
