Relax!

It's Tuesday, which means it's time to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my teammates and I are showcasing  Katzelkraft's wonderful and whimsical rubber stamps! I felt like creating a scene, so I chose the Living Room Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp Set to be the setting for the yoga monkey from the Jungle Animals Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp Set and the Parrot Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp.

Instructions and Notes:

I decided that I was bored of doing my usual stamp, mask, ink, stencil thing and to use some of my neglected, but beloved Fresco Chalk Paints by PaperArtsy. 

1. Randomly brayer Spring, Guacamole, and Beach Hut Fresco Chalk Paints onto Mixed Media cardstock. It dries really quickly. Here's the result.
   
   
   
2. I knew that I wanted to a jungle leaf background but I wanted it to be a bit textured, so placed the Elegance Stencil by Lavinia Stamps over the background, taped it in place, placed blank cardstock over the stencil, placed it on the Big Shot platform, with both cutting plates over top, and ran it through the machine several times, which yielded a slightly raised pattern, which you can see on the photo below.

   

   
   
3. The image panel with the stencil still taped on the reverse was placed onto my STAY-tion and secured with magnets.Rainforest Green Prism Ink was brushed over the stencil. 

   
4. The  monkey and elephant from the Jungle Animals Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp Set, the sofa, table, trunk, and light from the Living Room Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp Set, and Parrot were stamped onto white cardstock and  fussy-cut. 
5. The fussy-cut elements were placed onto the backround, so I could determine placement. I realized that the elephant, table, and trunk wouldn't fit. The photo has labels to keep the stamped images safe from sneaky thieves. Not that any of MY readers are thieves. I just prefer to protect them.

   

   
   
6. The unused images were set aside of another day. The monkey, sofa, parrot, and light were colored with Copic markers. They were edged with dark markers to avoid unsightly white edges. 
7. To create the background for the sentiment panel.Haystack, Yellow Submarine, and Zesty Zing Fresco Chalk Paints were brayered onto Mixed Media cardstock
8. The painted cardstock was secured to the base of my stamping platform with magnets.
9. The "Relax" sentiment was inked with Onyx Black VersaFine Ink, then stamped.
10. The stamped painted sentiment panel and white cardstock were cut with one of the dies from the Wood-Frame Infinity die set.
11. The frame was sponged with Roasted Coffee Prism Ink.
12. The sentiment and frame were adhered to a piece of cardstock cut slightly smaller than the frame. This was to keep them together and to pop the framed sentiment off the page a bit.
13. Wood-grained Washi Tape from my stash was adhered to the bottom of the image panel.
14. The image panel was was trimmed, then edged with Roasted Coffee Prism Ink. 
15. All the elements were adhered to the image panel, which was mounted on a brown A7 card.

Howdy!

I had a few stamped and embossed Sheriff Pin-Up images left from my Wonder Woman card, so I decided to use them. I followed a sketch from the Outlawz.

Here's my take on it! (I did flip it 90°.)


I colored the Sheriff Pin-Up from the Retro Cowgirls set by Bombshell Stamps with my Copic markers.

The patterned papers are from the Lost & Found Portobello Road 6x6 pad by My Mind's Eye. The patterned paper that I used for the die cut and for the rectangles was just perfect since it had horseshoe/spur thingies on it. (Can you tell that I'm not a rider?). The rectangles were heat embossed with several layers of embossing powder to make them look like tiles.

All edges were edged with seasonal Spruce Distress ink. The strip of patterned paper under the die cut was stamped with a Hero Arts Thank You stamp using Old Paper Distress Ink. I wanted a text stamp and that was the closest at hand!

Post Holiday Card Posting!

I've been such a bad blogger this past month. Time has just flown by since Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving, Chanukah, family parties, funerals, and a milestone (21st--not mine) birthday kept me busy and without a lot of excess energy or mojo. I did have pent-up ideas, just time and inclination didn't simultaneously occur until sometime last week. Needless to say my cards did not go out yet. I figure that I'll send 'em soon and people will just think I'm a master procrastinator.

Here's the first in a series of cards using the Santa's Sleigh image from the Holly Jolly Christmas set by Technique Tuesday. I love this set and have ideas for the other stamps in the set too.



I recently discovered that if you sponge dye ink over white metallic Recollections cardstock, the ink comes out shimmery. So I masked, reverse masked, sponged with Distress ink, and heat embossed to make the background scene. Then I stamped the Santa and sleigh image and heat embossed it in black.

All patterned papers are from 7 Gypsies 6x6 paper pads, albeit different pads. I used a Tim Holtz mask and sponged ink over it onto the map paper. I sponged ink onto the music paper to age it too. I used the music paper because I added a glittery red nose to the lead reindeer and was singing the Rudolph song while doing so.

I repeatedly stamped "Ho, Ho, Ho" with an old stamp by Hero arts with the Merry Christmas sentiment from Bombshell Stamps' Holiday Accessory set. I love that font!
