This card was made for my daughter for her birthday. The cats were colored to look like our pair of kittens, Domino and Harley Quinn.

Instructions:

  1. Create an A2 card from white cardstock.
  2. Layer patterned paper as shown.
  3. Die-cut grey pattered paper with one of the Stitched Speech Bubble dies.
  4. Stamp sentiment and paw prints on the Stitched Speech Bubble border, then adhere to the card front.
  5. Stamp and color the cats.
  6. Die-cut the image panel with the rectangle die from the Tag Builder Die Set.
  7. Mat with grey cardstock, cut slightly larger than the image panel.
  8. Adhere the image panel to the card front.
  9. Adhere the card front to the card.

Merry Christmas! (A Day Late!)

My Christmas card was created (and actually mailed) to a friend as part of a Secret Santa gift exchange. She opened the package yesterday, which means that I can share the card today! BTW, the inside of the card was decorated as well, but I had to rush the card and package to the post office, so I didn't get photos. Bad me!

Instructions:
  1. Die-cut the card base from grey cardstock using the Center Step Card Die. Score and fold.
  2. Die-cut the layers for the front, sides, and inside using the Super Combo Center Step Card Die set. 
  3. Edge all pieces with Distress ink and adhere to the the card base.
  4. Stamp the Santa hat from the Funny Accessories set onto white cardstock and onto a Post-it Note. 
  5. Fussy-cut the Post-it note and adhere over its counterpart.
  6. Using the stamp positioner, stamp the cat.
  7. Lift off the Post-it Note mask and color the image with Copic markers.
  8. Die-cut the image and the grey cardstock with two of the dies from the A2 Layers Die set.
  9. Mat the image panel onto the grey cardstock
  10. Apply several layers of Clear Glaze 3D Glossy Gel Pen to the cat's eyes, letting each layer dry before adding another. 
  11. Die-cut the sentiment from green cardstock.
  12. Adhere the matted image panel and the sentiment to the card card base.
  13. Die-cut the thought bubble from green cardstock.
  14. Add the rub-on sentiment and adhere the thought bubble as shown.

Instructions:
  1. Create an A2 card from blue cardstock.
  2. Using Tuxedo Black ink, stamp one of the Head Shot girls onto white cardstock.
  3. Color with Copic markers.
  4. Die-cut with one of the dies from the Fitted Frames B Die Cutting Set.
  5. Die-cut Banana Yellow cardstock with the slightly larger die from the same die set.
  6. Adhere the image panel to the yellow die-cut. Set aside
  7. Cut the Banana Yellow cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and .75" x 5.25".
  8. Cut the blue cardstock to 3.5" x 4.75". 
  9. Adhere the washi tape to the top and bottom of the blue cardstock.
  10. Adhere the washi tape over the strip of Banana Yellow cardstock.
  11. Stamp the sentiment from the Head Shots set onto blue cardstock, then die-cut with one of the smaller dies from the same die set used previously.
  12. Assemble the card as shown.

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of pale pink cardstock in half, score, and fold to create an A2 card.
  2. Cut a piece of lavender cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and set aside.
  3. Cut a piece of pale pink cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and temporarily adhere to a piece of scrap paper.
  4. Tape the stencil in place over the pale pink cardstock, then brush Distress inks over the stencil diagonally, blending the inks between colors.
  5. Lift up the stencil and the pink cardstock. 
  6. Trim the pink cardstock to 3.75" x 5" and sponge the edges with the inks used.
  7. Stamp the mouse onto white cardstock and color with Copic markers. Die-cut using one of the dies from the Fitted Frames A Cutting Dies Set.
  8. Cut a piece of lavender cardstock to .5" x 4".
  9. Adhere pom-pom trim to the strip of lavender cardstock.
  10. Adhere the die-cut image panel onto the stenciled background cardstock, then mat with the lavender cardstock
  11. Adhere the pom-pom trim bedecked lavender cardstock to the card front.
  12. Adhere the card front to the card.

A Holiday Gift For You!

Here's a holiday card using Stampendous' new House-Mouse Designs™ Birdie Gifts and Holiday Wishes Perfectly Clear Stamp Set.


This stamp is very versatile because it can be used for other occasions than just Christmas. Just change the color of the gifts and you're set. Not only that, but the Cardinal can easily become a Blue Jay or a Tufted Titmouse. Heck! You can even add leaves and flowers to the tree branches to give you a change of seasons!  I'll be revisiting this set to show you just that, so stay tuned.

Instructions:
  1. Fold a piece of 12" x 6" paper in half to create a 6" square card.
  2. Cut a piece of Wild Berry Very Vintage paper to 6" square. Edge with the R27 marker. Set aside.
  3. Using Tuxedo Back Memento ink, stamp the image onto white cardstock and onto thin paper.
  4. Color the cardstock version with Copic Markers.
  5. Fussy-cut the thin paper stamped image and adhere over its counterpart with removable adhesive.
  6. Airbrush the background with a B60 Copic marker.
  7. Pull up the mask and carefully remove adhesive from the image panel.
  8. Die-cut the image panel with a Nestabilities die. 
  9. Die-cut the remaining Wild Berry Very Vintage paper with the next largest die and edge with the R27 marker
  10. Cut a piece of the Coffee Very Vintage Double Dot Designs paper 1/8" larger than the red die-cut and edge with the E47 marker.
  11. Mat the image panel with the matching die-cut, then mat with the brown paper.
  12. Using Archival Ink, stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of the Wild Berry Very Vintage paper.
  13. Die-cut the paper with one of the dies from the Card Creator Nestabilities set and edge with the R27 marker.
  14. Trim a scrap of the Coffee Very Vintage paper 1/8" larger than the sentiment die-cut and edge with the E47 marker.
  15. Mat the sentiment with the brown paper.
  16. Adhere the image and sentiment panels to the card front, then adhere the card front to the card.

Dear Cherub Deer

As I've mentioned before, I love cherubs. In fact, I have a small collection of them that includes ceramic cherubs, some cherub earrings, a cherub necklace, and a few cherub stamps. So when I saw that Stampendous' July release included several cherubs, I knew I had to add them to my collection.

Instructions:
  1. Create an A2 card from light blue cardstock and set aside.
  2. Using Tuxedo Black ink, stamp Cherub Deer onto white cardstock and onto thin paper.
  3. Color Cherub.
  4. Fussy-cut the cherub stamped onto thin paper and adhere overtop the colored image using temporary adhesive.
  5. Airbrush the background sky using a B21 marker.
  6. Lift the mask and remove the adhesive completely.
  7. Die-cut the image panel and the Gingerbread patterned paper using a set of dies from the fitted Frames B Die Cut Set.
  8. Mat the image die-cut with the Gingerbread die-cut and set aside.
  9. Trim a piece of Powder Blue patterned paper to 4" x 5.25", edge with Distress ink, then adhere it to the card.
  10. Adhere the image panel to finish the card.

Happy Hanukkah!

I can't believe it! I seem to be living in a time warp as yet another holiday has snuck up on me! Hanukkah starts on Sunday evening and I have not wrapped one gift. In fact, I was way behind in my shopping this year. I don't know if it's a sign of my age or that things are more chaotic lately.

Anyway, here's a center step card featuring The Stamp Doctor's wonderful dies, including the Hanukkah Die Set which is on sale from now until December 5th.

Instructions:
  1. Create your card base by using the Center Step Card Dies to die-cut teal/aqua cardstock.
  2. Die-cut the patterned paper using other Center Step Card dies. Edge them with a BG72 marker.
  3. Die-cut lighter aqua cardstock with one of the rectangle dies from the Center Step Card Die Set.
  4. Die-cut the Menorah, sentiment, and dreidels from Cryogen White Metallic cardstock.
  5. Color the Menorah and dreidels with Copic markers.
  6. Draw a horizon line onto the light aqua rectangle and color under it.
  7. Adhere the Menorah to the aqua cardstock as shown.
  8. Use the yellow Spica glitter pen to add sparkles around the candles.
  9. Adhere the image panel to the center panel of the card.
  10. Adhere the dreidels to the outside panels of the card.
  11. Add the sentiment to finish the card.

Love Themed Matchbox

Stampendous challenged the design team to create love themed projects. A while back, PaperMart supplied us with a variety of products. I decided to use a small slide box, aka a matchbox, for this challenge.

Instructions:
  1. Separate the outside from the inside of the matchbox and paint all parts of the the matchbox with Carbon Black Media Fluid Acrylic paint. Let Dry.
  2. Brush One Step Crackle over the paint. Let dry several hours or overnight.
  3. Sponge Metallic Gold Media Fluid Acrylic paint over the crackled surfaces and immediately wipe back with a baby wipe. 
  4. Die-cut the filagree heart from the Wings Die Set with red cardstock and gold glittery paper.
  5. Back the red cardstock heart die-cut with double-sided adhesive tape and inlay the gold glittery bits into the heart as shown.
  6. Die-cut the wings twice from white metallic cardstock and sponge with Delicata ink.
  7. Adhere the heart and the wings to the outside of the matchbox.
  8. Punch a hole in the top and bottom of the inside box of the matchbox.
  9. Cut a piece of red cardstock to fit the inside of the box. 
  10. Sponge Golden Glitz Delicata ink over the Filagree Stencil onto the red cardstock.
  11. Adhere the stenciled red cardstock into the inside box.
  12. Edge the stickers with Golden Glitz Delicata ink, then adhere to the inside of the box to create the sentiment.*
  13. Thread gold thread through the hole in the top of the inside of the matchbox. Tie a knot at the top.
  14. Insert an head pin through the hole on the bottom of the box. 
  15. Thread crystal beads onto the head pin and loop the end.
  16. Add a bail to the heart.
  17. Open a jump ring and attach it to the loop at the end of the beads and the bail holding the heart.
  18. Adhere the roses to the bottom of the inside of the matchbox.
  19. Put the box back together!
*Note: I should have realized that the shadow of the open box would partially obstruct the top of the inside of the box, so if you're trying to re-create this, start your sentiment a bit lower than I did!

For Mew!

If you own are owned by a cat, there are a few things that are always true. If you have a box, the cat will be in it or on it. If you are wrapping a gift, the cat will "help". So, this stamp from Stampendous' super-cute Catnap Christmas set is perfect for tags! Best of all, it's versatile. Change the color of the gift in the image and it'll be perfect for any occasion! BTW, there's a coordinating die set available.

Instructions:
  1. Using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, stamp the Gift Cat onto white cardstock.
  2. Color the cat and the gift, then die-cut the image panel with one of the pairs of dies from the Fitted Frames B set.
  3. Add the background using Copic markers. 
  4. Use a Post-It Note to mask the top of the image, then sponge Distress ink over the bottom part of image die-cut. Lightly edge the entire die-cut with Distress ink.
  5. Die-cut the green cardstock with the matching die from the Fitted Frames B die set. Edge with Distress ink.
  6. Mat the die-cut image panel with the green cardstock. Set aside.
  7. Sponge Distress ink over the the Cathedral Windows Small Metal Stencil onto the green cardstock.
  8. Trim the panel and edge with Distress ink.
  9. Using the Storybook Alphabet Stamp set, stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of the leftover cardstock, die-cut with one of the dies from the die set, and edge with Distress ink.
  10. Adhere the matted image and sentiment panels to stenciled cardstock.
  11. Cut a piece of light green cardstock slightly wider and about .75" longer than the layered image and sentiment panel.
  12. Use the Duo Corner punch to punch the top two corners, edge with Distress ink, and adhere the layered image and sentiment panel.
  13. Find the center of the top of the tag and punch a hole in it.
  14. Add the ribbon to finish the tag.

Stampendous Holiday Challenge: Ugly Sweater Contest

Laura, at Stampendous, challenged us to create an ugly sweater project using the Cool Penguin  Clear Stamp and Die Set. The resulting creations will be gathered in a Pinterest file and you'll be able to vote for your favorite. Random voters and the winner will win prizes. We all like prizes, right?

Here's my card, with the ever-so-cool penguin, wearing a glittery candy-cane bedecked sweater and a hat with a matching glittery pom-pom, while standing in a field of glittery snow.  He thinks he's stylish. He's wrong.

Instructions: 
  1. Make an A2 card from red cardstock.
  2. Using Memento ink, stamp penguin, sweater, and hat onto Neenah cardstock.
  3. *Die-cut the penguin, hat, and sweater, unless you're me, in which case you've lost your dies that you probably put "somewhere safe". In that case fussy-cut them and declare this out loud, "Self, you're an idiot."
  4. Color the penguin die-cut, edge him with dark marker, and set him aside. He's easily amused, so he'll have fun watching you make his outfit.
  5. Color the sweater and hat, then die-cut them using the corresponding dies. If you're like me, see step 3.
  6. Using VersaMark ink, stamp the candy cane onto the sweater. Add Red Tinsel embossing powder, dump off the excess, and heat set. 
  7. Taking a lesson from me, wait until cool enough to touch. Use White Glaze gel pen to add the white stripes to the candy cane on his stylish sweater.
  8. Repeat step 6 to add the snowflakes to the sweater.
  9. Use the VersaMarker and color the hat's pompom. Dip the hat into Red Tinsel embossing powder, shake off the excess, and heat set.
  10. Cut the striped patterned paper to 4" x 5.25".
  11. Cut the Christmas Tree patterned paper to 3.5" x 5.25" 
  12. Edge the Christmas Tree patterned paper with VersaMark ink, add the Winter Wonderland embossing powder, dump off the excess, and heat set.
  13. Adhere the Christmas Tree paper over the striped paper as shown.
  14. Cut a 4" wide hill from white cardstock, smoosh onto the VersaMark pad, add Crystal embossing powder, dump off the excess, and heat set. Repeat so that you have a really glittery sparkly snowy-looking hill.
  15. Adhere the glittery sparkly snowy-looking hill to the base of the layered patterned papers, edge the enter card front with VersaMark ink, add Winter Wonderland embossing powder, dump the excess, heat set, then adhere to the red A2 card.
  16. Adhere the penguin and dress him. Ta-dah! Done!

Instructions:
  1. Stamp the unicorn image onto white cardstock using Memento™ ink. 
  2. Color using Copic markers in festive holiday colors.
  3. Die-cut the image and gold cardstock using the Fitted Frames A Die set.
  4. Adhere the image panel to the gold die-cut and set aside.
  5. Using VersaMark™ ink, stamp "believe" from the Merry Words Perfectly Clear™ Stamp set onto the Patterned Kraft Merchandise Bag.
  6. Sprinkle on Green Tinsel embossing powder, dump off the excess, and heat set.
  7. Adhere the matted image panel to the bag.
  8. Fold the top of the bag over and punch two holes on either side of the bag.

Instructions:

  1. Resize digital image and print onto cardstock using a laser printer.
  2. Color image with Copic markers.
  3. Ink the cutting surface of the die with ink. Carefully place the die over the image, tape into place, and run through the die-cut machine.
  4. While the image panel is still in the die, lightly brush ink over the die onto the card surface, taking care to stay away from the image. Remove the image from the die.
  5. Apply several layers of Glaze gel pen over the cat's glasses, letting the ink dry between layers.
  6. While the ink is drying, layer the patterned papers as shown and edge all layers with ink.
  7. Adhere the card front to a grey A2 card.

Instructions:
  1. Fold a 6" x 12" piece of Wasabi Double Dot Very Vintage Paper in half to form a 6" x 6" card.
  2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp Pine Carolers.
  3. Color with Copic markers.
  4. Die-cut image panel and red cardstock with a matching pair of dies, then mat the image panel die-cut onto the red die-cut. Set aside.
  5. Using Mowed Lawn Distress ink, stamp the Music background stamp onto the patterned paper, trim the paper to 5 7/8" square, then edge the paper with Distress ink.
  6. Using a stamp positioner, stamp the sentiment onto the patterned paper with Jet Black Archival Ink.
  7. Adhere the image panel to the card front.
  8. Adhere the card front to the 6x6 card.

Directions:
  1. Fold a piece of 6" x 12" red cardstock in half to form a 6x6 card.
  2. Cut patterned paper to 5.75" square and edge with Ground Espresso Distress ink.
  3. Adhere the patterned paper to the card.
  4. Stamp the birds and color the image and the background with Copic markers.
  5. Use the Pebeo Paint Marker to add snow to the branches of the image.
  6. Trim the image panel as desired.
  7. Die-cut a piece of red cardstock with one of the borders from the Spring Border Die Set, adhere the image panel, then trim the top edge of the cardstock as desired.
  8. Adhere the die-cut image panel.
  9. Using the Build a Wreath Die Cut Set, die-cut brown cardstock with the pinecone die.
  10. Use the VersaMarker to add details to the pinecone.
  11. Use the pine sprig die to cut two green pine sprigs.
  12. Use the berries die to die-cut a scrap of red cardstock. 
  13. Add white dots to the berries with the white gel pen.
  14. Adhere the pine sprigs, acorn, and the berries to the upper left hand corner to finish the card.

Instructions:
  1. Cover part of the skeleton's head with a Post-It® Note. Ink stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento ink, remove Post-It Note, and stamp the skeleton onto white cardstock.
  2. Add a horizontal line using a Copic marker, 
  3. Using a stamp positioner, the little mouse, the top hat, and the bat.
  4. Color images using Copic markers.
  5. Die-cut image panel.
  6. Finish coloring the scene.
  7. Mat the image panel onto Wildflower cardstock, mat with black cardstock.
  8. Cut a panel from Wildflower cardstock that is 1/2" wider and 3/4" longer than the matted image panel.
  9. Punch the top two corners, punch a hole, and add a ribbon.

Instructions:
  1. Cut an 8.5" x 11" piece of Ivory cardstockin half to create two 4.25" x 5.5" panels.
  2. Using black ink, stamp the Script onto one panel, then randomly sponge Distress inks over top.
  3. Fold the cardstock in half to form an A2 card, then sponge the edges with Distress inks.
  4. Stamp the Crowned skull onto white cardstock and color with Copic markers. 
  5. Color the gems in the crown with Red Solar Sparkle Pen.
  6. Trim the image panel to 4" x 5.25".
  7. Distress the edges of the image panel with a distress tool and the blade of a pair of scissors. 
  8. Sponge the edges with Distress inks, then adhere to the card front.

Instructions:
  1. Stamp Costume Play onto Neenah cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
  2. Use Copic markers to color the scene.
  3. Trim the image panel and mat with plum cardstock.
  4. Cut  1.25" x 4" strips of patterned paper and edge with Black Soot Distress ink.
  5. Stamp "Boo" onto the Ivory patterned paper using Jet Black Archival ink.
  6. Die-cut with the ticket die from the Build a Pop Up Die Set and edge with Black Soot Distress ink.
  7. Mat the sentiment die-cut with plum cardstock.
  8. Cut a piece of Abracadabra patterned paper to 4.25" x 5.5". Edge with Black Soot Distress ink.
  9. Adhere the three strips of patterned paper to the card front as shown.
  10. Adhere the image panel and the sentiment.
  11. Adhere the card front to the card.

Instructions:
  1. Create an A2 card from the Desert Storm Cardstock.
  2. Stamp the Warm Cup onto Neenah cardstock using Memento ink. 
  3. Fussy-cut the image, color with Copic markers, and edge with a black pen.
  4. Using Jet Black Archival ink, stamp the Coffee Background onto Mixed Media cardstock.
  5. Brush Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs, Ground Espresso Distress Oxide inks horizontally onto white Mixed Media cardstock, going from light at the top to the darkest at the bottom. Blend as you go.
  6. Spritz with water, heat set, then repeat the process until you're happy with the result. In retrospect, I would have done the ink blending first, then stamped the background. Oh well.
  7. Make sure that the Oxided background panel is bone dry, then die-cut with one of the dies from the A2 Layers Combo Die Set. Sponge the edges with Ground Espresso Distress ink.
  8. Adhere the clock washing tape, then outline top and bottom with the brown Pitt Artist pen.
  9. I had a Warm Cup mask from a previous stamping session. I placed the mask where I wanted and outlined it with the brown pastel chalk pencil, then smudged the lines.
  10. Using a fine-tip black pen, add the mouse's hair.
  11. Remove the mask, add more brown chalk, then smudge again.
  12. Adhere the fussy-cut Warm Cup image.
  13. Die-cut the patterned paper using a larger die from the same die-cut set used previously. Sponge the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
  14. Mat the image panel with the patterned paper.
  15. Add the twine, securing it on the reverse.
  16. Adhere the card front to the A2 card.
