Bombshell's Ornament Challenge!

Bombshell's December's Guest Designer (aka Ms. December), Monika, issued an ornament challenge.

Here's mine:

I used the Santa Teddy Bear from Bombshell's Holiday Accessory set.

The teddy bear was colored with Copic markers, which I'll list below. I mounted him onto a coaster, then die cut the coaster using a Sizzix circle die. I sponged around him using Distress Ink, since I think he's a vintage teddy. Oh. I almost forgot. Black Glaze gel pen was added to his eyes and nose for dimension and shine.

White metallic cardstock was adhered to white chipboard, then die cut with a Sizzix Bigs Snowflake die. I adhered the Santa Teddy to the center of the snowflake, then added Holographic Glitter Liner by Viva Decor.

Here's a close up of Santa Teddy.

Since we don't celebrate Christmas at our house, I hung my ornament in my rubber tree, which is also decorated with some plastic skeletons.

Copic Markers Used:
Hat: R22, R24, R37
Hat's trim: N0, N1, N3
Teddy: E40, E41, E43, E44, E47, E49

I shall be entering this ornament into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Merry Christmas

Peace on Earth

In keeping with the holiday season and in light of recent events, I had the need to create this card.

Earth Angel from the Guardian Angels collection by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers which I'll list below.

I stamped the image a second time onto Judikins Eclipse Tape, cut it out, and masked the image, then ran it through my Big Kick using a Spellbinders' Grand Labels 11 Nestabilities to die cut it. Keeping the cardstock in the die, a night sky was airbrushed using the Copic Airbrush System. Copic Opaque White paint was flicked from a toothbrush over the sky and the masked image to become "stars".

When the Opaque White was dry, I lifted the mask and touched up the image, adding some shadows and such. Gold Spica Glitter Pen was used on the peace sign and Clear Gelly Roll Stardust Pure Glitter Pen was used to add shimmer to her wings.

Holographic Glitter Liner was used to edge the die cut. I messed up when I squeezed a bit too hard, which resulted in a huge blob of glittery glue. I wiped most of it off, but you can still see the remnants. Since this was Take 2 with the card, I decided that I would embrace imperfection. :D BTW, I also have glittery glue all over my hands, in my hair, on my sweatshirt, etc.

The patterned paper is from a Memory Box 6x6 pad that is no longer available. However, there are loads more at SCACD here.

One of SCACD's Garden Corners dies was used to die cut white metallic paper, which was also used for the die cut border and the stamped sentiment by Hero Arts. Navy metallic paper was die cut with a Spellbinders die to frame the sentiment.

Thanks for visiting today.

Steampunk'd

Today the SCACD Design Team is celebrating with some inspiration on our blogs! Take some time to visit each blog because I'm sure they'll be rocking the SCACD stamps and dies.

Here's my project, which should enlarge if you click on it!

I've been in a mixed media mood lately and been playing with all sorts of paints and sprays and stencils that are new to me and are available at SCACD!

I decided to combine Steampunk Eyes from SCACD's Eyes of Adventure and Fables collection with the Steampunk Lace stencil from ArtistCellar.

I sprayed Plush (Purple) Colorations Mist from Art Anthology, Fresh Lime and London Blue from Dylusions, and Bronzer Color Shine by Heidi Swapp onto glossy cardstock. I sprayed, heat set, sprayed, heat set, and so on until I was happy with the coverage and the look.

The Steampunk Lace stencil was adhered to the dried sprayed cardstock with temporary adhesive because I didn't want the paint to seep under the edges of the stencil, which happened repeatedly over the weekend. To keep the stencil from moving around, I taped it down with removable tape. Then I pounced Black Ice Silkz Acrylic Glaze over the stencil. When the Glaze dried, I lifted the stencil and immediately took it to the sink to wash it with ScrapPerfect's Best Cleaner Ever, which removed the dried paint and the adhesive AND even removed some of the ink from my hands!

Steampunk Eyes was stamped onto Neenah cardstock using Black Tuxedo Memento Ink and colored with Copic markers, which I'll list below. Gelly Roll Clear Glaze pen was used on her watch, buckles, gears, and buttons and Glossy Accents was used on the lens of her goggles. She was fussy cut and put aside while I did some die cutting!

SCACD's Key Corner die, Classic Timepiece die, and Alterations mini-Gears dies were used to cut metallic gold cardstock. The die cuts were layered over the base of the sprayed glossy cardstock and black glittered tape was added over the top of the die cuts. Steampunk Eyes was adhered, the corner die cut was added and I called the card done!

Thanks for reading all that and for visiting today! Don't forget to visit my SCACD teamies' blogs!

Bombshell's Muse Monday!

Muse Monday is a special day at the Bombshell Blog. Each month, Alison, our Challenge Captain, selects one set of Bombshell set to be showcased on each Monday throughout that month.

This month's set is Pin-Stripes, which is one of the sets in the Hot Rod Collection.

Pin-Stripes and Striped by Me are very versatile sets.

Here's my card.

I was already covered with ink and my table top was a mess, so I decided to continue getting inky and used the Wrinkle Free Distress technique, but I also added some Kosher Salt and also some Heirloom Gold Perfect Mist to the mix.

When it was all dry, I stamped the large Pin-Stripe Stamp using Onyx Black VersaFine ink, then stamped the mirror image smaller swooshes. I used some sparkly black embossing powder, with mixed results. I don't know if it's my new heat gun, but the ep wasn't melting properly, which was rather irritating.

So, I brushed off what wasn't sticking and used a Pitch Black Spica Glitter pen to touch it up and add black sparkle.

The entire piece was edged with Black Soot Distress ink and finished with black glitter paper corners cut using one of the two dies in SCACD's Classic Corner set.

Go to Bombshell's blog to check out other ways to use the wonderful and versatile Pin-Stripes set

Warm Winter Wishes???

It's not winter yet, but one would think that it would be colder than it is right now. But I'm not complaining (about the weather). I prefer mild winters since I no longer ice skate, sled, or do anything depicted in this card.

Yeah. If I ever tried to sled while wearing ice skates, I most likely would not be here writing this blog post. Just sayin'.

Anyways, meet Winona Loves Winter from the Uptown Collection by Stamping Bella. Winona and a whole crowd of her Uptown Girlfriends are now available at SCACD.

Winona was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored with Copic markers which I'll list below. The snow around her was also colored with Copics. Touches of Gelly Roll Stardust Pure Glitter Clear Pen were added to provide some sparkle to the snow. A silver metallic pen was used on the blades of her ice skates.

The sky was sponged in with Pebbles Shimmery Pastel Palette Chalk. Sadly, the photo does not show the shimmer of the sky or the glittery parts of the snow. Bummer.

SCACD's Garden Corners were brushed with Ice Silkz Acrylic Glaze (Luminarte's Glazes on SALE right now!)to add some shimmer. Punched metallic white snowflakes were added atop the corners and ginormous rhinestones finished 'em off.

The sentiment was stamped with Black Onyx VersaFine ink onto metallic white cardstock. It was die cut with QuicKutz dies and layered atop a big snowflake Sizzlet die cut.

The patterned papers are from the Winter Wishes 6x6 pad by Echo Park and very, very, very old, ancient KI paper. I added Holographic Border stickers to update the look.

I shall be entering this card in the following challenges:

News!

Greetings Earthlings! I've got some good news to share. I recently tried out for Kenny K's Krafty Krew and made the cut! Woo-hoo! I'm stoked because Kenny K Download's digital stamps really make me smile. They've got attitude and I like that -- probably because I'm loaded with attitude, which is not the same as being full of ----, which I am, albeit infrequently.

My other news is that I've discovered why Santa Claus is so darned jolly! Nope. It's not booze or pharmaceuticals, though he might use caffeine for his epic ride Christmas Eve. Negatory. This card will show you the real reason for Santa's jollyness.

Here you thought Vixen was a reindeer. Certain parts of her are definitely reindeeresque. (Yes. Another new word. Dig it!). But the rest of her? She's all woman and that's why Santa is so very jolly. Mrs. Claus, well, she's got a certain elf friend, if you know what I mean. **wink**

On Vixen was printed on Neenah cardstock and colored with Copic markers, which I'll list below. I used Mega Rectangles Nestabilities to die cut her, then added Viva Decor Hologram Iridescent Glitter Liner around the edges to add some serious glitter.

The patterned paper is from Winter Wishes 6x6 pad by Echo Park. This pad contains some fabulous aquas, blues, purples, grays, and whites. All edges were coated with a layer of Pearl Paint Dabber, which I also used to paint the very old chipboard arrow from Deluxe Designs. Remember them? I added Glitter sticker letters by Making Memories to the arrow when it was dry.

Memory Box/Poppy Stamps' Frostyville Border and Frostyville Corner were used to cut metallic white cardstock.

The rest of the sentiment was computer generated.

Thanks for visiting today.

I shall enter this card in the following challenge(s):

Gelli Plates Experiment -- Take One

A while back, I read about Gelli Art Printing Plates on Facebook and got intrigued. I did a lot of blurfing, watched a ton of videos, and agonized whether this was something I wanted to try.

Then I found an offer from Dick Blick that I could not refuse and went for it. Being me, I was overjoyed to get my packet, then promptly put it away. For months. I'm goofy like that. In fact, when I have the urge for chocolate, I buy some, and don't eat it. Just buying it would satisfy that urge. Am I weird or what???

I finally got the Gelli Plate out last week and had fun playing with it for several hours. I used Jo Sonja acrylic paints and a mess of stencils from both The Crafter's Workshop and Art Cellar.

Here's a collage of several of the prints. Click on it to enlarge the image.

I will most definitely use some of these prints for something or another and I can't wait to play again since I learned quite a bit from my mistakes (backward numbers, too much paint, too little paint, bad color combos, etc.). I think I need to get more fluid paint, but I plan on experimenting with what I have on hand (old cheapo acrylics for instance) and incorporating some of these prints in my "schtuff", especially since I seem to be sliding down that slippery slope into mixed media art.

Thanks for visiting today!
