He's a Dapper Dude!

It's Tuesday, which means that it's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. As you might have noticed, I love cats and have made it my top priority to collect all the cat-themed stamps, dies, and stencils in the world. They've said that "She, who has the most cat stamps, wins!" Yahoo! I'm gonna win!

Anyway, I've fallen hard for the dapper cat from the Simple Elegance Cling Rubber Stamp Set by Carabelle Studio. I think he's so classy that he needed to be framed! So I did just that using the Regal Frame Red Rubber Cling Stamp by Darkroom Door.

BTW, if you'd like to get 12% off your order at Topflight Stamps use THIS LINK!

Here's my card!

Instructions:
  1. Using Memento ink, stamp the elegant cat from the Simple Elegance Cling Rubber Stamp Set onto white cardstock and onto mask paper, which was fussy cut and set aside.
  2. Secure the image panel to the stamp platform with magnets.
  3. Position the Regal Frame over the cat image, ink the frame with Memento ink, and stamp.
  4. Remove the image panel but keep the stamp on the platform's lid.
  5.  Use the stamp positioner to position the sentiment and stamp with Archival ink.
  6. Color the cat with Copic markers and adhere the pre-cut mask over him
  7. Place the image panel onto the STAY-tion and secure with magnets.
  8. Place Post-It Notes over the frame and sponge Periwinkle ink over the Checkerboard stencil onto the image panel.

  11. Add clear detail embossing powder, dump off, and heat set.
  12. Let cool then use a Y26 Copic marker to color the white bits on the embossed frame.
  13. Use a VersaMarker to go over the entire frame and the cat's glasses.
  14. Add clear detail embossing powder, dump off, and heat set.
  15. Repeat Steps 13 and 14 a few times until the frame and the cat's glasses are very dimensional and shiny.
  16. After some misadventures trying to get a straight rectangular border around the frame (I would swear that my vision has gotten wonky lately or maybe I'm just unbalanced), I ended up fussy-cutting the frame, which then needed to be edged with a dark marker and blasted with a heat gun to seal those edges.
  17. The image panel was adhered to some really old, but beloved patterned paper and onto a blue/aqua A2 card.
PSA: You only have a few days left to take advantage of the Christmas/Winter in July Sale going on at Topflight Stamps! The sale ends July 31st!

Instructions:
  1. Cut 12x12 blue cardstock to 7" x 10". Score at 5" and fold to form an A7 card.
  2. Trim the remaining cardstock to 10" wide and adhere it to a piece of printer paper with temporary adhesive.
  3. Use magnets to secure the cardstock/printer paper combo to the base of a stamping platform.
  4. Position the 8x8 Decor Cling stamp as desired, press the platform's lid onto the cling foam, and lift the lid. Ink the stamp with white hybrid ink and stamp. Repeat if necessary.
  5. Sprinkle embossing powder over the image, dump off the excess, and heat set.
  6. Trim the embossed blue cardstock to 6.5" x 4.5" to form the image panel.
  7. Adhere white glitter tape to the base of the embossed image panel.
  8. Edge the image panel with the Frost Sheer Shimmer Stix. Set aside.
  9. Cut a piece of Mixed Media white paper in half. Place it onto the cutting plate of your die-cutting machine and add the dies you want to use from the "Gnomes and Friends" Die Set. Add the second cutting plate and run the sandwich through your machine.
  10. Repeat if necessary. I needed to use the gnome body die, the gnome hat die, the cat die, the braid die, and the shoes die twice.
  11. My Distress® Oxide inks had been neglected and I wasn't feeling up to coloring for hours, so I used the inks to color the shoes, gnome bodies, gnome hats, and gnome shoes. I generally used the darker color around the edges, then blended the lighter color over it.
  12. The cats, the gnome's beard, the lady gnome's braids, the candy cane, and all three gnome noses were colored with Copic markers.
  13. The gnomes' mittens were painted with Titanium White MFA paint.
  14. When the paint was dry, Cotton Ball White Fun Flock was added to the gnomes' mitten cuffs with Quickie Glue.
  15. Stamp the sentiment onto blue cardstock with Onyx Black VersaFine ink. Let dry.
  16. Use one of the small dies from the Fitted Frames B Die Set to cut the sentiment.
  17. Use the slightly larger die to cut the glitter cardstock.
  18. Adhere the sentiment die-cut to the glitter die-cut.
  19. Adhere all the elements as shown.
  20. Cut the striped patterned paper to 6.75" x 4.75" and edge with the Frost Sheer Shimmer Stix. Let dry.
  21. Adhere the image panel to the striped paper, then adhere to the card.

Darkroom Door Background Stamps

It's Tuesday, which means that it's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my TFS teammates and I are sharing projects using Darkroom Door's Background Stamps. You should pop by the TFS blog throughout the week to see what the this talented group of ladies have done this week.

These stamps are sized to fit an A6 card as a background, so you can use them to create your own custom patterned paper, trim the backgrounds down to fit a tag, an A2 card, or use to cut dies too. I do love the versatility of these fabulous backgrounders, so much so that I've got two cards to share with you!

Here's the first card, which is a modified Spotlight card, using Darkroom Door's Butterflies Background Red Rubber Cling Stamp and my oft-used, and dearly beloved, Wellbeing Stencil.

I'm Late!

It's Wednesday which means that I'm a day late sharing a project created for Topflight Stamps. Last Friday, we had a torrential rain storm, courtesy of Tropical Storm Dora. First it started raining in the middle of the kitchen onto our kitchen table. Then we lost power for several hours. An hour after the power returned, the cable crapped out. Due to the pandemic, no one was available to come check out the situation until Tuesday, which meant that we were left without internet (except for our phones) and tv! Poor poor us. Such first world problems.

Anyway, my talented pal and TFS teammate, Toni, switched days with me. Don'tchaknow that team work makes the dream work?

This week, I've created a slimline card that is appropriately titled "I'm Late!" using stamps from the Alice Collection, Set 2 by Random Artist 222 for That's Crafty. I also used That's Crafty's Discover Word Series Stencilthe Cogged Up Stencil by Andy Skinner for Creative Expression, and two colors of Prism Inks by Hunkydory Crafts.

Here it is.

Joy to the World! It's Christmas in July!

It's Tuesday, which means that it's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my TFS teammates and I are celebrating Christmas in July! You should pop by the TFS blog throughout the week to see what the this talented group of ladies have done with this challenge!

BTW, if you'd like to get 12% off your order at Topflight Stamps use THIS LINK.

I've made a shaker card using the Snowflake Background and the Merry Christmas Sentiment Strip stamps from Darkroom Door and the Origami Bear Stamp Set by Katzelkraft.

Here's the card.

Here's a close up so you can see the sparkly bits. The true color is above.

Topflight Stamps Products Used:

Sky, Lake Wanaka, and Elephant Fresco Finish Chalk Paints by PaperArtsy

Other Products Used:
Solar White Classic Crest® Cardstock by Neenah Papers
140 Lb. Mixed Media Paper by Strathmore®
Avalanche Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Tuxedo Black Memento™ Ink by Tsukineko®
Fresh Snow Pigment Ink by Paper Trey Inc.
Frost Dazzle VersaMark™ Ink by Tsukineko®
French Ultramarine Archival™ Ink by Ranger Industries
Copic® Markers: BV0000, B0000, B60, C0, C00, R39, G09, N6, N8
Frost Sheer Shimmer™ Stix by Imagine®
A variety of sequins from Doodles Paper Playground, Kat Scrappiness, and Gina Marie Designs (Yes, I go through and choose the sequins, stars, etc.  I want to use, and put them in a little cup.  I'm a Virgo.)
Rounded Rectangle Dies: No clue who made them, which is very bad of me.
Nameplate dies by Spellbinders®
Clear Acetate saved from packaging because I'm frugal like that.
Black Foam Tape by Craft Fancy

Instructions and such:
  1. I knew that I wanted to use sparkly embossing powder with the gorgeous Snowflake Background stamp and I knew that I wanted to finally succeed at creating a shaker card. I didn't succeed with that goal, but perfection is overrated, or so they say. Tell that to my inner Virgo. Anyway since I'd be embossing and creating a shaker, I wanted to use some heavier cardstock and I wanted the inside of the shaker to match the outside, so I grabbed a 9" x 12" sheet of Mixed Media cardstock, flipped it to horizontal orientation,  and swiped the three colors of Fresco Finish Chalk Paint, listed above, across the sheet, then heat set it to make sure that it was totally dry.
  2. The Snowflake Background was stamped twice with white ink onto the painted heavy paper, sparkly embossing powder was added, and heat set.
  3. The backgrounds were cut twice with a rounded rectangle that matched the stamp size perfectly. Gotta love that. Don't gotta love that I have no clue who made the die. Oops.
  4. A smaller rounded rectangle was used to cut one of the two backgrounds to create the window for the shaker. I'm reserving the die-cut for a later use.
  5. Frost Sheer Shimmer was applied to the edges of the window and the panel.
  6. Both the bears from the Origami Bear Stamp Set were stamped with Memento ink, fussy-cut, and colored. Then I decided to just use one of them.
  7. I stenciled a background with French Ultramarine ink, then embossed the entire thing to create an ice floe for the bear.
  8. The ice floe and the bear were adhered to the rounded rectangle die-cut. This piece was set aside while I created the shaker.
  9. The panel with the window was flipped over and clear acetate was adhered to cover the aperture.
  10. Two layers of foam tape were applied to over the acetate and around the panel.
  11. A non-static bag thingy was tapped onto the interior of the tape and the acetate window so that the goodies wouldn't stick to the acetate. Hahahahahahaha.
  12. The strips covering the adhesive were removed and  image panel was placed image side down over the aperture.
  13. Alas, when I sealed the shaker with the bear background, I realized that the bear's ears and head weren't firmly adhered to the background and that a star sequin and Shaved Ice were under or stuck to his head. Note to self: Use glue!
  14.  I also discovered that I had overfilled the background with a mixture of sequins, sparkly stars, and Shaved Ice, so you can't see that he's chilling out while sitting on an ice floe. Bummer.  You'll have to take my word for it.
  15. The sentiment was stamped with white ink, heat set with sparkly embossing powder, and die-cut.
  16. It was adhered to finish the card and two sequins and Festive Diamond Sparkle Gemstones were added to finish the card.

Instructions:

  1. Using the Gift Card die, cut the two-sided patterned paper.
  2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the cat, dog, and cake from the Birthday Gift Perfectly Clear Stamp Set onto Copic friendly cardstock.
  3. Color the images with Copic markers.
  4. Use the rounded rectangle die to cut the colored image.
  5. Use the small rounded rectangle die to cut the patterned paper.
  6. Use the sentiment die to cut solid cardstock.
  7. Use the squiggly rectangle die to cut the patterned paper.

  10. Add your gift card and you're done!
Helpful Hints:
  • Use double-sided patterned cardstock to create your card. That way both sides are already decorated. I raided my stash to find older patterned papers to use. However, you can use cardstock and decorate the inside and outside with stamps, die-cuts, or stencils.
  • Cut the patterned cardstock to 4.75" wide so that you can cut both the gift card wallet and the squiggly rectangle from it.
  • When adhering the notch-cut squiggly rectangle, apply adhesive to the center of the rectangle (vertically and horizontally) and to the edges.
  • Do NOT apply under the notches or you will not be able to add your gift card!
