Darkroom Door Background Stamps

It's Tuesday, which means that it's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my TFS teammates and I are sharing projects using Darkroom Door's Background Stamps. You should pop by the TFS blog throughout the week to see what the this talented group of ladies have done this week.

These stamps are sized to fit an A6 card as a background, so you can use them to create your own custom patterned paper, trim the backgrounds down to fit a tag, an A2 card, or use to cut dies too. I do love the versatility of these fabulous backgrounders, so much so that I've got two cards to share with you!

Here's the first card, which is a modified Spotlight card, using Darkroom Door's Butterflies Background Red Rubber Cling Stamp and my oft-used, and dearly beloved, Wellbeing Stencil.

Instructions for the Butterflies Background Card:

  1. Using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, stamp the Butterflies Background Red Rubber Cling Stamp onto sky patterned paper.
  2. Trim slightly and edge with Black Soot Distress Ink.
  3. Use one of the ring dies to cut a framed circle from the center of the paper and from blue cardstock.
  4. Color the butterflies in the circle with Copic markers and edge the circle with Black Soot Distress Ink.
  5. Place the blue ring and the colored circle into the patterned paper.
  6. Decide that it looks dull and the planned die-cut butterfly looks lame.
  7.  Pull out the  beloved Wellbeing Stencil and sponge blue Memento ink over the  words "serene", "quiet calm", "time out", and "peaceful" onto the card front.
  8.  Use Copic markers to color the butterflies that sit over the words to create more of the spotlight look.
  9. Adhere the cardfront to a blue A6 card.
  10. Try adding die-cut butterflies to the blue ring on the card.
  11. Decide "less is more" and let it be.
Instructions for the Buttons Background Card:
  1. Using Memento ink, stamp the Buttons Background Red Rubber Cling Stamp onto ivory cardstock.
  2. Use B34 and B37 Copic markers to color between the buttons the buttons' holes on the background. Trim the image panel and edge with the B37 marker.
  3. Use the Sewing Room die to cut heavy cardstock and Shantung silk-finish specialty paper.
  4. Color the cardstock version with N4 and N6 Copic markers.
  5. Trim the top and base off of the Shantung silk-finish specialty paper die-cut and cut a rounded "v" neckline.
  6. Use StazOn ink to stamp the Fun Flowers Background Red Rubber Cling Stamp onto the die-cut. Heat set.
  7. Adhere the "dress" to the dressform.
  8. Cover the words above and below the "one of a kind" sentiment on the stamp with Post-It Notes, ink with StazOn, remove the PostIt Notes, and stamp the sentiment onto Shantung silk-finish specialty paper. . Heat set.
  9. Cut the sentiment with a fishtail banner die.
  10. Position the stitch die across the top of the banner, secure with repositionable tape, and cut.
  11. Cut a piece of the Shantung specialty paper slightly larger than the Buttons Background image panel.
  12. Adhere the Buttons Background image onto the Shantung silk-finish specialty paper, then adhere to a blue A6 card.
  13. Adhere the dressform and the sentiment the card.
