Post-It Note Holder!

I know! Three blog posts from me in one day and it isn't even April Fool's Day!

Have you checked out Stampendous!' new Slim Cling Rubber Stamps yet? They're fabulous and so very versatile. Additionally, the new stamps work wonderfully well with Eileen Hull's Journal Die by Sizzix, can be used to create Post-It® Notes® Holders, regular cards, 3.5" x 5" cards, and 4" square cards!

Happy Purrthday!!

It's Tuesday which means it's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my teammates and I are showcasing stamps by Darkroom Door.  I really, really wanted to use the Television Eclectic Red Rubber Cling Stamp and kept debating what to do with it. Practicality won the day as I needed a birthday card for my Godfather, who is turning 94 soon. Like me, he's a cat lover and also loves yellow.

Here's the card.

Gemstones: Recollections?

Instructions:
  1. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the Television Eclectic Red Rubber Cling Stamp three times onto Neenah cardstock and once onto a Post-It Note.
  2. Fussy-cut the Post-It Note version around the perimeter of the tv. Cut into the mask and cut out the tv screen.
  3. Secure the image panel to the base of the stamping platform with magnets.
  4. Mask the first tv using the Post-It Note mask from step #2.
  5. Position the first of the kitties facedown onto a masked television set so that its face is in the screen.
  6. Press the lid of the platform into the back of the stamp, left the lid, ink with Memento ink, and stamp.
  7. Remove the mask from the first television set and place it on the second one. Repeat Steps #5 and #6 until each cat is stamped onto the screen of each television set.
  8. Remove the image panel and fussy-cut the television sets.
  9. Color the cats and the television sets with Copic markers, , edge them with a dark marker, and set aside. I elected to make my televisions into black and white TVs in keeping with their vintage appearance and the age of the card recipient. Oh the things he must've seen in his 94 years!

  13. Place the ruler horizontally across the top of the stamped area.
  14. Use the shaving whiskery brush thingy to apply Graphite Elements Ink to the bottom of the background panel, then heat set.
  15. Move the ruler to cover the bottom part of the background.
  16. Use a second shaving whiskery brush thingy to apply Sundance Elements Ink onto the top part of the background, lightly spray with water, and heat set.
  17. Use Sundance Elements Ink to ink the Fun Flowers Background Red Rubber Cling Stamp by Darkroom Doorrandomly stamp on the top portion, then heat set.
  18. Trim the background panel to 8.5" x 3.5" then edge with the two colors of Elements ink used previously.
  19. Use Onyx Black VersaFine Ink to stamp the sentiment from the A Purrfect Day Clear Stamp Set onto a scrap of the leftover yellow-brushed cardstock, heat set, then die-cut.
  20. Adhere the background panel to grey cardstock cut .25" larger.
  21. Adhere the matted background panel to a yellow card.
  22. Adhere the three television sets and the sentiment die-cut .
  23. Add grey gemstones from the stash were used to finish the card.

Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop -- Card #3!

It's Tuesday which means it's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. The Spring/Summer 2021 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is still running and Topflight Stamps is a Super-Sponsor! Be sure to check out the store for all the coffee themed products available as well as all the wonderful new products.

I wanted to show the versatility of  the To Go cup from the Coffee and Tea To Go Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp Set by Katzelkraft. It's got that open space that is crying out for a stamped image, so I decided to add one of the super-caffeinated looking meerkats from the Meerkat Madness Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Hobby Art Ltd.

Here's the card which has an Action Wobble!

Here's the movie. Maybe.

Instructions:
  1. Using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, stamp the Coffee To Go Cup onto white cardstock and onto a  a Post-It Note.
  2. Fussy-cut the bottom of the Coffee to Go Cup to use as a mask.
  3. Use magnets to secure the image panel to the base of the stamping platform.
  4. Several of the meerkats from the Meerkat Madness Clear Polymer Stamp Set fit the front of the cup and most had the proper super-alert expression but I selected the bowtie meerkat stamp. Place the stamp facedown onto the cup, press the lid onto the stamp, lift, ink with Memento, and stamp.
  5.  Fussy-cut the Manic Meerkat Coffee To Go Cup and set aside.
  6. Place  the Super Hero Rays 6x6 Stencil onto a piece of beige-ish/tannish cardstock and secure with magnets.
  7. Working from the center outwards, sponge Blue Lagoon, Mermaid, and Sundance Elements Dye Inkover the stencil onto the cardstock.
  8. Keep the Super Hero Rays 6x6 Stencil in place, then position the Coffee Beans 6x6 Stencil on top of it and sponge Henna Elements Dye Ink over both stencils onto the cardstock. I should note that these inkpads are especially juicy, so after inking the foam applicator, I dabbed ink off onto a piece of scrap paper. However, their very juiciness is what allowed me to apply ink through two stencils!
  9. Since the Coffee To Go Cup had not yet been colored, you can choose your colors based on the stenciled paper.
  10. Use Copic markers to color the meerkat and the cup accordingly.
  11. Trim the stenciled background paper and mat with brown cardstock that is cut slightly larger.
  12. Adhere the matted background paper to a green 5" square card.
  13. Use the same inks to color the white Snarky Small Talk Sticker and adhere to the card for the sentiment.
  14. Use an Action Wobble to adhere the colored fussy-cut Coffee To Go Cup to the front of the card.

  7. Repeat Steps #2 and #3 with South Pacific Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint, then with Prawn  Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint. These paints are tranlucent and semi-opaque respectively, so that you can see some of the color underneath them.

  20. Edge the stamped Kraft cardstock panel with Roasted Coffee Prism ink.
  21. Cut a strip of the remaining teal cardstock from Step #1 to 2.5" x 6" and use to mat the kraft strip.
  22. Trim the matted Kraft panel to 5.5".
  23. Apply Clock-patterned Washi tape to the base of the matted Kraft panel as shown, then adhere to the background panel to create the card front.

Windy Wishes!

It's been a windy start to March. Do you remember this Saturday Night Skit? You should watch it. Though it's mid-March, the new House-Mouse Designs® Windy Wish Rubber stamp reminded me of the skit, eventhough my dandelions haven't yet appeared. What can I say? I've got a strange mind.

Here's the card.

Catish Tales at Kath's Tales

It's Tuesday, which means it's time to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my teammates and I are showcasing the wonderful Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints  by PaperArtsy. If you like acrylic paints and haven't tried these yet, you absolutely must. There are over 180 colors of paint, encompassing 22 color families. These paints produce a lovely chalk finish and are wonderful to create stampable or stencilable (new word) backgrounds. You can also use them to paint images or other elements.

Here's my slimline card.

Instructions:
  1. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the bookish cat from the Elena Zinski Art #47 Rubber Cling Mounted Stamp Set. I'll admit that I cheated on the challenge by not attempting to paint him.
  2. Instead, he was fussy-cut, colored with Copic markers, then edged with a dark marker.
  3. Several layers of clear Glaze gel pen were added to his glasses to add dimension and shine. He was set aside while I created the background.
  4. Apply Taro Milk TeaBougainvilleaClaretPeriwinkleCloudy, and Blueberry  Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints to 140 lb. Mixed Media cardstock using Cut-N-Dry™ Foam.
  5. When it is dry, (which doesn't take long at all) use the largest die from the Decorative Squared Rectangles Die Set to cut it. See the photo below.
  6. Use magnets to secure watercolor paper to the base of stamping platform.
  7. Position the Book Spines Frame Stamp Red Rubber Cling Stamp facedown onto the paper, lift the lid, then ink the stamp with Jet Black Archival ink.
  8. Re-ink and re-stamp if necessary to get a good image.
  9. Keep the stamp on the platform!
  10.  Paint the books with Cloudy, Blew, Stone, and London Bus Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints.
  11. Use Onyx Black VersaFine Inkto stamp the word "Purrfect" from the Felines Clear Stamp Set and the mouse and fishbones from the Cats Clear Polymer Stamp Set onto the spines of the books as shown.
  12. Use chalk pencils to add some shading to the books.
  13. Use Pitt Artist Markers to color the mouse and use white gel pen to color the fishbones.
  14. Fussy-cut the books and edge them with a dark marker.
  15. Use the largest die from the Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangles die to cut black cardstock.
  16. Adhere the painted die-cut background to the black die-cut.
  17. Adhere the three rows of washi tape to the base of the matted die-cuts as shown. Secure them on the back.
  18. Adhere the books and cat to the image panel as shown.
  19. Finish the card by adhering the card front to a blue slimline card.
Here's the photo referred to in Step #5. The color is a bit different due to the lighting and the state of my iPhone.
