Decorated MemoryDex Box

This week's theme is Mixed Media. I've used PaperArtsy's Snowflake, Toffee, BoraBora, and Yellow Submarine Fresco Chalk Finish Acrylic Paints, Matte Glaze, Hot Picks Printed Tissue Paper 2 - Frames, and Squeezed Mattint Fresco Tint to decorate a premade wooden MemoryDex box that was purchased so long ago that I can't remember where I got it!

2" Sookwang Double-sided Tape

Instructions:

1. Use a foam brush to apply Snowflake Fresco Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint  to all four sides, the bottom, the top rim, and the inside of the MemoryDex box. 
2. Squeeze a small amount of Toffee Fresco Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint onto a craft mat. Use a foam brush to apply the Toffee Fresco Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint from the bottom edge of the all four sides towards the top. 
3. Squeeze a small amount of BoraBora Fresco Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint onto the craft mat. 
4. Use another foam brush to apply the BoraBora Fresco Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint to the top rim of the box, and from the top edges of the box towards the bottom. 
5. Replenish the BoraBora Fresco Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint and paint the inside of the MemoryDex box and the dowels. 
6. When dry, paint the bottom of the box with the same colors. 
7. Use a waterbrush to paint a border of water around the images you want to use from the Hot Picks Printed Tissue Paper 2 - Frames then gently separate the images from the rest of the tissue paper. 
8. Use another foam brush to apply a layer of Matte Glaze to one side of the box.
9. Smooth one of the border pieces of tissue paper onto the wet Matte Glaze to adhere it to the box. 
10. Apply another layer of Matte Glaze to seal the tissue paper. 
11. Repeat this process to apply the tissue paper images to all four sides of the box.
12. Use a foam brush to apply Squeezed Mattint Fresco Tint to all four sides, the top rim, and the interior of the box to add additional color. 
13. Squeeze a small bit of Yellow Submarine Fresco Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint to your craft mat. 
14. Use a stipple brush to add some splatters and splotches of yellow paint to the box.
15. Use a finger to apply Treasure Gold Wax to the box to add additional color and some shine to the box. Be sure to clean your finger between colors!
16. Place two-sided tape on the back of a piece of black cardstock. 
17. Use an alphabet die to cut the "MemoryDex" letters, then adhere them to the front of the box. 
18. Use another foam brush to apply a layer of Matte Glaze over all sides, the rim, and the interior of the box to seal it.

Instructions:

1. Create a 6" square card from green textured cardstock. Set aside.
2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the Fat Cat Rubber Stamponto white Copic-friendly cardstock.
3. Fussy-cut the image, color him with Copic markers, and edge him with a black pen. Set him aside while you construct the rest of the card.
4. Position a square frame die as shown onto a piece of holiday-themed patterned paper, secure with low-tack tape, and die-cut. 
5. Trim the patterned paper to 5.75" square and edge with a BG23 Copic marker.
6.  Use the same frame die to cut a piece of green cardstock. Set aside.
7.  Flip the square cardstock over. 
8. Adhere a piece of clear acetate over the aperture cut by the square frame die.
9. Dust the acetate with an anti-static tool.
10. Place double-sided foam tape around the aperture to create a well. 
11. Fill the well with sequins, clay pieces, etc. As you can see, I chose to use peppermint candy clay pieces, two colors of clay snowflakes, and clear snowflake discs. 
12. Carefully remove the backing from the foam tape and place patterned paper over the well to seal the shaker contents inside. 
13. Flip the patterned paper/shaker over and adhere the reserved green cardstock frame.
14. Place a piece of 2" wide two-sided tape onto the back of a piece of vellum. Use a Speech Bubble Die to cut the vellum.
15. Place another piece of 2" wide two-sided tape onto the back of a piece of green textured cardstock. 
16. Use a Christmas Sentiment die and Alphabet dies to cut the cardstock.
17.  Adhere "meowy" using the Alphabet die-cuts and the "Christmas" sentiment" to the Speech Bubble die-cut. 
18. Set the speech bubble sentiment die-cut aside.
19. Use a Santa Hat die from the Crazy Things Framelits Die Set to cut white cardstock.
20. Color it with Copic markers. 
21. Adhere the Santa Hat to the Fat Cat's head.
22. Add a piece of torn blue glitter washi tape to the patterned paper panel as shown.  
23. Adhere the Santa Fat Cat so that he's standing on the glittery washi tape and the right side of his body is overlapping the frame and the shaker element.
24. Remove the backing from the vellum sentiment Speech Bubble die-cut and adhere it over his head as shown.
25. Adhere the card front to a 6" green card.

Catnapped by Aliens -- An Imagine Crafts Tutorial

It's almost fall, the most mysterious season. What can be more mysterious than Unidentified Flying Objects? And what's the most popular subject on the internet? Cats! I've combined both questions to create this scene with inks, stencils, and cutting dies but no stamping! The biggest mystery is whether this project will become a wall hanging or a journal page.

Instructions:

Step 1. 

Secure the UFO stencil to a piece of mixed media paper with removable tape on both sides of the paper, creating a hinge. Apply Platinum Planet Brilliance over the stencil onto the cardstock. Open the hinged stencil and heat set the image panel keeping the heat gun away from the stencil.

Step 2:

Put the UFO stencil back in place. Use a sponge dauber to apply Silver Shimmer Delicata over the stencil onto the image panel. Open the hinged stencil and heat set the image panel.

Step 3:

Use a brush-tipped Fantastix to apply Dandelion Memento ink through the UFO’s windows onto the image panel. Remove and clean the stencil.

Step 4:

Touch up the windows with the Fantastix. Use a grey watercolor marker to color the window frames and the bottom aperture of the UFO. 

Step 5:

Fussy-cut the UFO, edge with a dark marker, and set aside.

Step 6:

Use a sponge dauber to apply Danube Blue onto a 4.75” x 6.75” piece of Bristol Paper. Use a sponge dauber to blend Paris Dusk onto the Bristol Paper to create a mottled background.

Step 7:

Tape the Time Tunnel Stencil over the inked background panel. Use a sponge dauber to apply Paris Dusk Memento ink over the stencil onto the paper.

Step 8: 

Squeeze a few drops of Moonlight White Brilliance re-inker onto a craft mat. Spray with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. Use a paintbrush to mix the ink. Load the paintbrush with the diluted Moonlight Brilliance ink and splatter the background panel. Heat set. Put aside.

Step 9:

Use the Mini Cats die twice to cut Raven cardstock. Set the cat die-cuts aside.

Step 10:

Use a sponge dauber to apply Bamboo Leaves Memento ink onto a white cardstock panel. Repeat this step with Cottage Ivy Memento ink until the panel is covered and the ink is blended to your liking.

Step 11:

Use the Grassy Hills Die set to cut the inked panels. Use a green Copic marker to edge the grass and to add details. Using Memento Ink to create backgrounds allows you to use Copic markers overtop!

Step 12:

Cut a piece of vellum to 6” square. Score on the diagonal from one point to the opposite point. Fold. 

Repeat with both sides until it looks like the photo. 

Step 13:

Place one edge of the scored, folded square along the cutting edge of a guillotine trimmer. Cut.

Step 14: 

Use On Point Glue to adhere the die-cut cats to the interior of the folded vellum triangle. Sorry that I forgot to take a photo. 

Step 15:

Back a piece of vellum with two-sided tape. Use the Oval Shadows Die-namics to cut the vellum.

Step 16:

Use Tear It! Tape to adhere the three layers of grass to the background panel as shown. Edge the panel with Nocturne VersaFine Clair.

Adhere the vellum cone and the vellum oval as shown. Hide the adhesive behind the black cats. 

Use On Point Glue to adhere escaping and/or partially beamed-up cats atop the vellum oval and cone. 

Use dimensional foam adhesive to adhere the UFO as shown.

Step 17:

Adhere the image panel to a 5” x 7” piece of Black Mixed Media paper. Add the sentiment sticker to finish the piece.
