Instructions:

Step 1:

Use a 2” brayer to apply Paradise VersaFine Clair ink to the top part of a 4” round gel press. Clean the brayer, then use to apply Green Oasis VersaFine Clair Ink to the bottom  of the gel press.

Press a 6” x 4.25” piece of mixed media paper onto the gel press and pull the print.

I actually used a leftover panel from a previous gel print session that was not successful.

Step 2:

Mist the print with with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol.

Use Fantastix to apply Verdant VersaFine Clair Ink to even out the green area of the print and then apply Rain Forest VersaFine Clair Ink to add dimension.

Step 3:

Use paper towel to gently dab the sky and grassy areas of the print with Purell to further blend the ink.

Heat set.

Step 4:

Use magnets to secure the image panel to the base of a stamping platform.

Position the stretching cat stamp from the The Furieux/Caffeinated Cats Unmounted Stamp Set facedown so that its paws are on the grass.

Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if needed. Remove the stamp and heat set the panel.

Step 5:

The left paws were stamped slightly above the grass, so I used Fantastix and Green Oasis VersaFine Clair Ink to add a tuft of grass under his floating paws and to add detail to the lawn.

Step 6:

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Pearlescent Sky Blue Brilliance Ink around the image circle, leaving a bit of a halo effect around the circle.

Step 7:

Tape the image panel to the back of the Pawprint Stencil so that the smallest paw prints run horizontally across the top of the image panel.

Use Sponge Daubers to apply Pearlescent Sky Blue and Mediterranean Blue Brilliance Inks over the stencil onto the image panel.

Remove and clean the stencil, then repeat the steps above to stencil the small paw prints across the bottom of the image panel.

Lift the stencil and use the Sponge Dauber to edge the panel with Mediterranean Blue Brilliance Ink. Heat set the panel.

Step 8:

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Pearlescent Sky Blue Brilliance Ink to a strip of white cardstock. Heat set.

Use a stamping platform and Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the sentiment. Heat set.

Cut the sentiment and edge it with Mediterranean Blue Brilliance Ink. Heat set.

Step 9:

Cut a piece of white cardstock to 9” x 6.25”, score at 4.5”, and fold to form a 4.5” x 6.25” card.

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Mediterranean Blue Brilliance Ink around the the edges of the card. Heat Set.

Step 10:

Use Tear It! Tape to secure the image panel to the card front.

Step 11:

After looking at the finished card,I decided that the card needed a larger sentiment up at the top left.

Secure the entire card with magnets to the base of a stamping platform. Position the “Hello” stamp from the Holiday Quotes. Unmounted Stamp Set facedown on the upper left. Use Nocturne VersaMark Ink to stamp the sentiment. Heat set.

I've Got That Lovin' Feline

It's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my teammates and I are showcasing Visible Image's fabulous products. If you've been here before, you know that I'm a cat person, so when I saw the "That Lovin' Feline" Clear Polymer Stamp Set, I knew it would be mine! It features four fabulous cats, a bird, a mouse, a heart cluster, a pawprint, and several fun punny sentiment stamps.

Here's the card!

  1. Cut, score, and fold a piece of dark grey cardstock to create an A6 card. Set aside.
  2. Use a stamping platform and Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the roundest cat stamp from That Lovin' Feline Clear Polymer Stamp Set twice -- once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper.
  3. Fussy-cut the sticker paper was fussy-cut then place it over its counterpart as a mask.
  4. Position the reclining cat stamp from the same set facedown to the right of the masked cat.
  5. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp it twice -- once onto the image panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper.
  6. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it over its counterpart as a mask.
  7. Place a piece of repositionable tape horizontally across the base of the image panel.
  8. Brush Pink Jellybean Prism Ink over the masked cats onto the image panel to create a pink background. A happy accident occurred because I didn't realize that there was yellow ink remaining on the tape, which lent a yellowish glow around the cats, which I quite like.
  9. Use magnets to secure the Ripples Stencil over the image panel onto a STAY-tion.
  10. Brush Pink Jellybean Prism Ink over the stencil onto the image panel to create a tone on tone design.
  11. Use Pink Jellybean Prism Ink to stamp the hearts and pawprints from the That Lovin' Feline Clear Polymer Stamp Set and the musical notes* from the Music On, World Off Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Visible Image onto the image panel.
  12. Position the "Lovin' Feline" sentiment stamp face-down across the top of the image panel.
  13. Ink the sentiment stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp.
  14. Lift and retain the masks and the tape.
  15. Use Copic markers to color the cats* and the floor.
  16. Use the largest scalloped rectangle die from the Card Passe Partout Rectangles Die Set to cut pawprint patterned paper.
  17. Use the stitched frame die from the die set to cut a window in the center of the pawprint panel.
  18. Use the largest plain rectangle die to cut grey cardstock.
  19. Adhere the image panel behind the scalloped pawprint frame die-cut. then mat the combination with the plain grey rectangle.
  20. Adhere the matted, framed panel to the reserved dark grey A6 card.
Notes:
• Domino is a long hair roundish long-haired white cat with a pink nose, pinkish ears, and golden/greenish eyes.
• Harley Quinn is a sleeker (but heavier) short haired white cat with grey markings on her head, neck, nape, and tail. She has a black spot on her nose and has pink and black toe beans. Her eyes are blue around the pupils which fades into green.
• I used music notes because of the song "You've Lost That Loving Feeling".  Enjoy the song.

  15. Brush Summer Sky Memento ink horizontally across the masked images to create a sky background.
  16. Repeat with pink ink to add some warmth to the sky.
  17. Remove and retain the masks.
  18. Use one of the stitched circle dies from the Nested Circles Essentials Die Set  to cut the image panel. *
  19. Color the camel, the Santa Hat, and the sand dunes.
  20. Use a white Gelly Roll gel pen to add catchlights to the camel's pupils.
  21. Use the other dies from the Nested Circles Essentials Die Set to cut green, white, and red cardstock, then use the die-cuts to mat the image panel as shown.
  22. Cut a piece of green cardstock to 5.75".

  27. Use magnets to secure a small scrap of white cardstock to the base of the stamping platform.
  28. Position the "Oh Camel" sentiment stamp face-down on the white cardstock.
  29. Ink the sentiment stamp with Shady Lane VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the "Oh Camel..." sentiment onto the white cardstock.*
  30. Trim the sentiment and use a punch to round the corners.
  31. Use the bubbles die to cut white cardstock.
  32. Keeping the cardstock in the die, brush Summer Sky Memento ink through the holes in the die onto the cardstock.
  33. Remove the cardstock from the die and use a pink Copic marker to make the color match the sky.
  34. Adhere the green cardstock panel to the reserved white 6" square card.
  35. Adhere the image panel as shown.
  36. Use dimensional foam adhesive to adhere the sentiment panel.
  37. Adhere the bubbles between the sentiment and the camel's head.
Notes:
  • Retrospectively, I should have positioned the stitched circle die so that the camel's head and neck were further to the right side of the circle to make more room for the sentiment. Alas.
  • Olive Elements Ink is very close in color to  Shady Lane VersaFine Clair Ink, but I prefer the clarity of the VersaFine Clair Ink when stamping fine-lined detailed images such as type.
