Hello

Greetings! Saturday is my day to share a Funky Fossil Designs project. I wanted to use the Modernist Medley Collection because it's gorgeous and because as a somewhat abstract collection, it is outside of my comfort zone. I decided to try to push myself and came up with two cards.

Here's the first one, which is a slimline card using the A5 Modernist Medley Clear Stamp Set  and the Dancers 5 x 7 Stencil

  1. Trim a piece of Bristol Paper to 3.25" x 8.25".
  2. Secure the Bristol Paper to the STAY-tion with low-tack tape.
  3. Secure a piece of low-tack tape onto a cutting mat.
  4. Place the wavy ruler onto the tape so that the wavy edge is in the center of the tape.
  5. Run the craft knife along the wavy edge to create two curved pieces of tape.
  6. Place the flat edge of one of the pieces of tape along the bottom edge of the Bristol Paper panel.
  7. One by one, sponge or brush the Distress Inks horizontally over the Bristol Paper panel, blending as you change colors.
  8. Mist the panel with water, dab of some of the ink, and heat set.
  9. Repeat Step 8 to add additional dots and mottling to the background.
  10. Use Cottage Ivy, Bamboo Leaves, Morocco, and Tango Memento Inks to stamp the shapes from the A5 Modernist Medley Clear Stamp Set onto the inked background.
  11. Place the other piece of wavy low-tack tape from Step 5 on the top of the wavy tape covering the bottom of the image panel.
  12. Remove the low-tack tape covering the bottom of the image panel.
  13. Sponge or brush Peanut Brittle Memento Ink horizontally right under the remaining piece of tape.
  14. Sponge or brush Desert Sand Memento Ink over the Peanut Brittle Ink to create the ocean floor.
  15. Use Morocco Memento Ink to stamp the four pronged "coral" from the A5 Modernist Medley Clear Stamp Set twice as shown.
  16. Remove the low-tack tape and heat set the panel.
  17. Use magnets and/or low-tack tape to secure the Dancers 5 x 7 Stencil so that one of the wavying dancers is on the right side of the image panel.
  18. Sponge Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink over the Dancers 5 x 7 Stencil onto the inked and stamped panel.
  19. Carefully remove the magnets, tape, and the stencil from the panel.
  20. Heat set the ink.
  21. Clean the STAY-tion and both sides of the stencil.
  22. Dry both thoroughly.
  23. Use magnets and/or low-tack tape to re-secure the image panel to the STAY-tion.
  24. Position the Dancers 5 x 7 Stencil so that the other waving dancer is positioned along the left side of the panel.
  25. Secure the Dancers 5 x 7 Stencil with low-tack tape and/or magnets.
  26. Sponge Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink over the Dancers 5 x 7 Stencil onto the inked and stamped panel.
  27. Carefully remove the magnets, tape, and the stencil from the panel.
  28. Heat set the ink.
  29. Heat set the panel to be sure that all inks are dry.
  30. Use Salty Ocean Distress Ink and Desert Sand Memento Ink to edge the panel.
  31. Adhere the panel to a black 8.5" x 3.5" slimline card.
  32. Use the black Pigma pen to edge the "Hello" sentiment sticker from the Sentimental Sticker Stack, then adhere the sticker to finish the card.
Notes:
  • I used dye inks for the sea and the ocean floor so that the Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink would be opaque.
  • I thought that the dancers from the Dancers 5 x 7 Stencil would make wonderful swimmers.
  • Similarly, the A5 Modernist Medley Clear Stamp Set onto the inked background make fabulous sea plants and coral.
