Stamping Platform

Instructions:

1. Create a 6" square card from textured black cardstock. Set aside.
2. Use the Timekeeper Bigz Alterations Die to cut a Mini Stencil Sheet to create a new stencil set.
3. Separate the background, the clock, the clock hands, and the center circle pieces. Poke all of the other pieces between the numbers on the inside ring of the clock part of the stencil.
4. Use low-tack tape and/or magnets to secure a 7" square of mixed media cardstock to a magnetic crafting surface.
5. Center the outer ring of the clock stencil horizontally towards the top of the cardstock panel and secure with magnets. 
6. Sponge Dress Blues Dye Ink over the stencil onto the image panel.
7. Sponge Suede Shoes Dye Ink over the stencil onto the image panel blending the ink as you go.
8. Remove the stencil from the image panel.
9. Place the image panel onto the base of a stamping platform. Secure with magnets.
10. Position the Silhouette Witch Rubber Stamp facedown on the center of the clock with the point of the witch's hat over the XII. 
11. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp, lift, ink the Silhouette Witch Rubber Stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink, and stamp.
12. Re-ink and stamp again as needed to attain a good impression.
13. Trim the image panel to 5.75" square, edge it with Nocturne VersaFine Clair, and thoroughly heat set it.
14. Adhere the image panel onto the reserved 6" square black card. 
15. Adhere the sentiment stickers to finish the card.

Stamping Platform

Instructions:

1. Create a 7" x 5" card from black cardstock. Set aside.
2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp Pokey Pidgeon on the left side of a 7" x 5" piece of Bristol Paper, then stamp again onto a piece of repositionable sticker paper.
3. Color Pokey Pidgeon with Copic markers so that he looks more like a Raven than a pigeon. 
4. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version of Pokey Pidgeon and place it over its counterpart on the image panel.
5. Place the image panel onto the STAY-tion atop the Glassboard.
6. Place a piece of repositionable Scotch Tape horizontally across the image panel right above Pokey Pidgeon's feet.
7. Place a slimline cloud stencil towards the top of the image panel and secure with magnets.
8. Brush or sponge Stormy Sky Distress Ink over the top of the stencil onto the image panel. 
9. Brush or sponge Villainous Potion Distress Ink over the stencil over the stencil onto the image panel.
10. Flip the stencil 180°, move it downwards, and secure with magnets. 
11. Brush or sponge Stormy Sky Distress Ink over the top of the stencil and the masked Pokey Pidgeon onto the image panel. 
12. Brush or sponge Villainous Potion Distress Ink over the stencil over the stencil and the masked Pokey Pidgeon onto the image panel.
13. Repeat Steps 10 - 12 three more times until the stormy and cloudy sky background fills the image panel. 
14. Brush Lost Shadow Distress Ink onto the white areas of the clouds to darken them a bit.
15. Mist the image panel with water and use a paper towel to blot up the bigger droplets. Heat set the panel.
16. Move the repositionable Scotch Tape so that it's sitting on the separation between the sky and the bottom area and covering  Pokey Pidgeon's feet and legs.
17. Sponge or brush Pumice Stone Distress Ink over the tape and the masked image onto the bottom area of the image panel.
18. Place the "Nevermore" stencil to the right of and the masked Pokey Pidgeon and secure with low-tack tape and/or magnets. S
19. Sponge Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink over the stencil onto the image panel.
20. Use low-tack tape to cover the word "Nevermore".
21. Move the stencil slightly so that the splats and splotches are in an open area.
22. Sponge Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink over the stencil onto the image panel.
23. Repeat Steps 21 and 22 until you are happy with the amount of splotches and splats.
24. Remove the tape and the stencil from the image panel. 
25. Remove the mask and use Copic markers and/or a black fineliner pen to touch up Pokey Pidgeon if necessary.
26. Increase the size of and the masked Pokey Pidgeon's pupils with a N7 Copic marker. 
27. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to his pupils. 
28. Use a white colored pencil to add a highlight to Pokey Pidgeon's beak.
29. Use a black marker to deepen the black of the word "Nevermore".
30.  Trim the image panel to 6.75" x 4.75" and edge with Nocturne VersaFine Clair.
31. Adhere the image panel to a 7" x 5" card.

Notes:

• Cryogen White Curious Metallic Cardstock is an off-white shimmery cardstock that is compatible with alcohol markers. When dye inks are applied, they acquire a lovely shimmer, which appeals to my inner magpie. I hope you can see the shimmer on my card.
• My "go to" Memento Dye Ink smeared horribly and corrupted a completely innocent Copic marker. so I tried Amalgam ink instead and heat set it. 
• I did not want to risk contaminating my beloved Copics, so I used older duplicate markers for the skin and Shinhan Touch markers for the flowers and her lips. I had purchased a few Shinhan Touch markers when I first started my alcohol marker journey addiction over 15 years ago. The ones I used were still mostly okay, but I discovered a red one whose nib just broke off. 

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of 12x12 black cardstock in half, score at 6", and fold to form a 6" square card. Set aside.
2. Use Obsidian Amalgam Ink to stamp the left gazing face from the Beauty In Bloom Clear Stamp Set twice — once onto a 6" square panel of Cryogen White Curious Metallic cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper.
3. Heat set the image on the Cryogen White cardstock.
4. Use alcohol markers to color the face and the flowers. 
5. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version of the Beauty In Bloom face and place it over its counterpart on the image panel as a mask.
6. Brush Lost Shadow Distress Ink over the image panel.
7. Place the Flowerful Mask over the left side of the image panel and secure with magnets. 
8. Brush Tranquil over the Flowerful Mask onto the image panel.
9. Remove the mask from the image panel. 
10. Move the image panel and clean the Glassboard.
11. Place the Winged Mask over the image panel, secured with magnets.
12. Brush Serene over the Winged Mask onto the image panel.
13. Remove the mask from the image panel. 
14. Move the image panel, clean both masks, and the Glassboard.
15. Remove the sticker paper mask from the stamped image.
16. Trim the image panel to 5.75" square.
17. Use a black pen to edge the image panel.
18. Heat set the image panel.
19. Place the image panel back onto the stamping panel and secure with magnets.
20. Place the "Life is" sentiment facedown on the lower right of the image panel as shown.
21. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
22. Ink the sentiment stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression.
23. Heat-set the image panel.
24. Adhere the image panel to the reserved black 6x6 card.

Stamping Platforms

Instructions:

1. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the Pensive Cat Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp twice — once onto the image panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper. 
2. Clean the Pensive Cat Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp.
3. Color the Pensive Cat with Copic markers. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to his eyes. 
4. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version of the Pensive Cat and place him over his counterpart on the image panel.
5. Brush Lost Shadow Distress ink over the masked Pensive Cat to add a background behind the cat. 
6. Place the Ornate Stencil over the image panel. Brush Summer Sky Memento Ink, Speckled Egg Distress Ink, and Tattered Rose Distress Ink over the stencil to add a pattern to the background.
7. Place the image panel back onto the stamping platform.
8. Position the Pensive Cat Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp facedown on the bottom half of a piece of wood patterned paper from the Wood Textures 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad.
9. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
10. Cover the cat part of the stamp with Post It Notes, use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to ink the cat's elbows and the line below him, remove the Post-It Note, and stamp onto the patterned paper.
11. Fussy-cut along the line below him and around his elbows. Use a N5 Copic marker to edge the top of the patterned paper.
12. Use Twilight VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the "Dreamer" sentiment from the Dreamer Sentiments Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp Set onto the wood patterned paper. 
13. Brush Lost Shadow, Speckled Ink, and Tattered Rose Distress Inks over a small piece of white cardstock. 
14. Use a speech bubble border die to cut the cardstock on a diagonal so that there's a right angle on the top right edge of the bubble border die-cut.
15. Use Summer Sky Memento Ink to to stamp the words "Joy" and "Peace" from the Seasonal Words Clear Polymer Stamp Set onto the thought bubble die-cut.
16. Use Twilight VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the "Happy New Year" sentiment stamps from the Holiday Quotes Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp Set onto the thought bubble border die-cut.
17. Remove the mask covering the Pensive Cat Stamp on the image panel. 
18. Adhere the thought bubble sentiment border die-cut to the upper right hand side of the image panel.
19. Adhere the stamped wood patterned paper to the lower left hand side of the image panel. 
20. Use an N5 marker to add a shadow below the Pensive Cat's elbows
21. Trim the combined panel to 4.75" x 6.75",  edge with Twilight VersaFine Clair Ink, and adhere to a navy 5" x 7" card.

Instructions:

1. Create a 5" x 7" card from Raven (black) cardstock. Set aside.
2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp  Gnome Go Away onto white cardstock.
3. Fussy-cut the Gnome Go Away.
4. Color him with Copic markers, edge him with a black marker, and set him aside. He'll be perfectly happy on his own and will use that time to meditate.
5. Cut a panel of Bristol Paper with the Dreamy Manor Die Set 66.
6. Use Pitt Artist Pens and the Silver Ingot Metallic marker to color the die-cut.
7. Adhere patterned white vellum to the reverse of the Dreamy Manor die-cut to cover the windows.
8. Smoosh Grass Green VersaFine Clair Ink onto white cardstock.
9. Tear three times and edge the torn top of each strip with Oasis Green VersaFine Clair Ink.
10. Use the gate die to cut white cardstock. 
11. Color the gate die-cut with Silver Ingot Metallic marker.
12. Cut a piece of white cardstock to 5" x 7" to create the background panel.
13. Place the Cloud Stencil towards the top of the white cardstock and sponge London Fog, then Lulu Lavender Memento Ink over the top of the stencil onto the background panel.
14. Rotate the stencil, move it downwards, and sponge London Fog and Lulu Lavender Memento Inks over the stencil onto the background panel.
15. Repeat Step 12 until the panel is covered with ink and looks like a cloudy sky.
16. Layer the three green strips of paper onto the bottom of the background panel.
17. Adhere the Dreamy Manor Die-cut to the background panel.
18. Adhere the silver fence die-cuts to the bottom of the background panel.
19. Trim the background panel to 4.75" x 6.75". **
20. Use foam adhesives to adhere the gnome over the fence and house die-cuts, taking care to cover the Memory-dex holes with the gnome. 
21. Choose three sentiments from the Sharp Tongues 4 White Ephemera, color with the Light Indigo Pitt Artist Pen, and edge with a black marker.
22. Adhere the sentiments to the top left, not as shown. Make them straight. Unlike mine. Which are crooked. Alas.
23. Use a scissor blade to distress and tatter the edges of the background panel.
24. Apply Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink to the tattered edges.
25. Adhere the background panel to the reserved black 5" x 7" card.

Instructions:

1. Create an A6 card from brown cardstock. Set aside.
2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento In to stamp both festive coffee-themed stamps from the Holiday Cheers Clear Stamp Set onto white cardstock. 
3. Fussy-cut coffee cups.
4. Color the coffee cups with Copic markers, edge with a black marker, and set them aside.
5. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the "Warm Winter Wishes" from the Stay Cozy Clear Stamp Set 814 and the holly and berries from the Miss Merry Clear Stamp Set 608 onto cream cardstock. 
6. Use one of the smaller dies from the Labels 11 Nestabilities Die Set to cut the sentiment/holly. 
7. Color the holly leaves and berries with Copic markers. 
8. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to the holly berries.
9. Use Pinecone VersaFine Clair Ink to edge the sentiment/holly die-cut.
10. Use the arch die from the Winter Scenery Die Set to cut brown cardstock.
11. Position the snowflake arch die on the scalloped arch die-cut, secure it with repositionable tape, and run it through the die-cut machine.
12. Trim a piece of brown plaid patterned paper from the Distress Plaid 8x8 Paper Pad to 4.25" x 6.25". Use Pinecone VersaFine Clair Ink to edge the cardstock.
13. Adhere the edged plaid paper to the reserved A6 brown card. 
14. Adhere the snowflake arch to the plaid paper. 
15. Adhere the coffee cups and the sentiment die-cut as shown. 
16. Add white rhinestones to the centers of the snowflakes on arch to finish the card.

Belated Birthday Card!

Here's a belated birthday card created with Lost Coast Design's new Pokey Pidgeon stamp for the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity's September Animal Challenge! 

I googled "pigeons" and decided to make Pokey Pidgeon into a Rock Pigeon whose plumage is black, grey, purple, and teal/green. They really are rather handsome birds. 

I love Pokey's expression. He either looks surprised or guilty. I decided he was guilty of being a birdbrain and forgetting a birthday. He's kind of like me in that regard.

Stamping Platform

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of Raven cardstock to 9" x 6.25". Score at 4.5", and fold to form an A6 card. Set aside.
2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp Pokey Pidgeon onto white cardstock. 
3. Use Copic markers to color the image.
4. Use a N7 marker to enlarge Pokey's pupils just a bit, then add use a white gel pen to add highlights to them. 
5. Trim the image panel and mat with black cardstock cut .25" larger than the panel.
6. Choose patterned paper for the background from the Ink Drops - Midnight 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad,.
7. Trim the patterned paper  to 4.25" wide and edge with Nocturne VersaMark Clair Ink.
8. Use the YR12 Copic marker to make the yellowish veining in the patterned paper match Pokey's eyes. 
9. Use a label maker or computer generate your own sentiment. I opted to use my label maker to create both sentiments.
10. Use an airbrush or inks to color the sentiments.
11. Cut black cardstock with label dies and use to mat the sentiments.
12. Adhere the image panel and the sentiment die-cuts to the background panel as shown.
13. Adhere the background panel to the card.

Instructions:

Step 1:

Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the smallest penguin from the Grumpy Penguin Red Rubber Stamp Set onto a panel of Bristol paper.

Steps 2A - 2D:

Smoosh the Cantaloupe Memento Dew Drop Inkpad onto a piece of acetate packaging. Dip a paint brush into water, pick up some ink off of the acetate sheet, and paint both side sides of the penguin’s beak (2A). Repeat the process with Dandelion Memento Ink and paint the center of the penguin’s beak, blending the two colors of ink (2B). Clean and dry the acetate sheet.

Smoosh the Tuxedo Black Memento Inkpad onto the acetate sheet. Dip a paintbrush into water, wipe off the excess water, pick up some black ink, and paint the dark parts of the penguin. Repeat the process using more diluted ink to add some greyer tones to the penguin (2C). Clean and dry the acetate sheet.

Smoosh the Angel Pink and Summer Sky Memento Dew Drop Inkpads onto the acetate sheet. Use a damp paintbrush to add some color to the penguin’s belly (2D). Heat set.

Step 3:

Fussy-cut the sticker paper version of the stamped penguin and place it over its counterpart on the image panel as a mask.

Step 4:

Use low-tack tape to secure the coffee cup cutting die over the masked panel. Run through a die-cut machine.

Step 5:

Place a Post-It Note horizontally .25” from the bottom of the coffee cup die-cut. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Moonlight White Brilliance Ink over the Post-It Note onto the coffee cup die-cut. Remove the low—tack tape and the penguin’s mask. Heat set.

Steps 6A - 6B:

Cover the base of the coffee-cut die-cut with low-tack tape. Place the coffee-cup cutting die so that the body of the coffee cup is slightly outside the coffee-cup die-cut. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Oasis Green VersaMagic Ink fairly heavily along the outside edges of the coffee-cup die-cut (6A).

Remove the cutting die and continue to apply VersaMagic Ink to the rest of the coffee cup (6B). Heat set.

Step 7:

Use a lavender chalk pencil to add detail and shading to the outside of the coffee-cup die-cut. Use the White Glaze Pen to add highlights to the coffee cup. Sorry that there are no photos.

Step 8:

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Oasis Green VersaMagic Ink over a piece of Bristol paper to create a background panel. Heat set.

Step 9:

Use low-tack tape to secure the inked panel to the back of the coffee bean stencil. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Jumbo Java VersaMagic Ink over the stencil onto the background panel. Remove the panel from the stencil. Heat set the panel.

Step 10:

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Spring Pansy VersaMagic Ink to two strips of Bristol paper. Heat set.

Step 11:

Use one of the cutting dies from the Majestic Border Die Set to cut the both strips of inked paper. 

Step 12:

Repeat Step 10 using Jumbo Java VersaMagic Ink, heat set, then cut with the same cutting die. (No photo)

Step 13:

Use On-Point Glue adhere one of the Spring Pansy inked die-cut atop the Jumbo Java one. (No photo)

Step 14:

Use the scalloped rectangle die from the Passe Partout Rectangle Die set to cut the stenciled background panel from Step 9. Edge the panel with Jumbo Java VersaMagic Ink.

Step 15: 

Apply Spring Pansy VersaMagic Ink with a Sponge Dauber to the outer .5” of a panel of Bristol paper. Heat set then cut the panel using the largest plain rectangle from the Passe Partout Rectangle Die set.

Step 16:

Place a leftover scrap of the Spring Pansy VersaMagic inked paper onto the base of a stamping platform. Ink the stamp with Jumbo Java VersaMagic ink, then stamp onto the scrap. Remove the scrap and heat set the ink. Use a Ribbon Slide die to cut the sentiment then edge the die-cut with Jumbo Java VersaMagic Ink.

Step 17:

Use a Ribbon Slide Die to cut the sentiment. Use Jumbo Java VersaMagic Ink to edge the die-cut. Sorry that there's no photo.

Step 18:

Create an A6 card from a piece of textured white cardstock. Use a sponge dauber to apply Jumbo Java VersaMagic Ink around the edges of the card as shown. Heat set.

Step 19:

Thread the reserved border die from Step 11 through the sentiment die-cut. Use On Point Glue to adhere both the sentiment/border strip die-cut and the stacked die-cut to the background panel as shown.

Step 20:

Use Tear It! Tape to adhere the layers of the card.
