Journey Card

It's Tuesday so I'm sharing a project created for Topflight Stamps. I'm back to celebrating summer with a card created with the ship, compass, and anchor stamps from the Eclectica ES11 Cling Mounted Stamp Set by Scrapcosy for PaperArtsy and two sentiments from the Destination Unknown Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Visible Image. The background was created with the Acetate Circle Masks by Lavinia Stamps and Distress Oxide inks.

Here's the card!

Instructions and Notes:
The Acetate Circle Mask set contains the positive and negative parts of two sizes of circles for a total of four pieces.

1. Use Jet Black Archival ink to stamp the ship from the Eclectica 11 Set with Archival ink onto 140 lb. Mixed Media cardstock and onto label paper

2. Fussy-cut the ship's body, sails, and flags and adhere over their counterparts.

3.  Use purple tape to secure the image panel was taped to my STAY-tion.

4. Position the large circle mask from the Acetate Circle Masks over the ship and secure it with a magnet.

5. Place a strip of a magnetic vent cover across the image panel to create a horizon line. See Photo #1 below.

6. Sponge and/or brush Worn Lipstick, Kitch Flamingo, and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks along the bottom edges of the circle and the along the horizon. See Photo #2.

7. Sponge and/or brush Blueprint Sketch and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Inks above and around the circle mask to create the rest of the sky. See Photo #3.

8. Remove the magnet cover and the acetate circle mask. Clean the circle mask and set it aside. Replace the circle with the mask with the circle aperture. Reposition the magnet cover as it was before.

9. Sponge or Brush Fossilized Amber and Scattered Straw Distress Oxide Inks over the masks onto the circle to create the sun. Remove and clean the masks. See Photo #4.

10. Place the vent cover on the horizon line covering the sky. Alas I forgot to take a photo.

11. Brush or sponge Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks  horizontally over the base of the image panel to create the sea. I found that working from the horizon downward worked well and facilitated blending.

12. When  happy with the coverage, spritz water overtop and then heat set. See Photo #5 for the result. Remove the purple tape.

13. Lift the masks from the ship. Use LePlume watercolor markers to color the ship, lifeboats, and sails.

14. Use magnets to secure the image panel to the base of the stamping platform.

15. Position the compass stamp facedown on the upper right and the anchor facedown on the lower left of the image panel. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamps and lift.

16. Ink the stamps with Blueprint Sketch Distress ink and stamp.

17. Remove the stamps, clean, and set aside.

18. Position the fishing net from the Shell Beach Perfectly Clear Stamp set facedown on the lower right of the image panel. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.

19. Ink the stamp with Blueprint Sketch Distress ink and stamp.

20. Remove the stamps and clean.

21. Heat set the image panel.

22. Position the the sentiments from the Destination Unknown Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Visible Image facedown on the image panel. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamps and lift.

22. Ink the stamps with Onyx Black VersaFine Ink and stamp.

23. Remove the stamps from the stamping platform and clean.

24. Remove the image panel from the stamping platform and heat set.

25. Trim the image panel to 4.625" x 6.625".

26. Edge the image panel with Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink, then Black Soot Distress ink.

27. Cut a piece of black cardstock to 4.75" x 6.75".

28. Mat the image panel with the black cardstock.

29. Adhere the matted image panel to a 5" x 7" card.
