A Steampunk Card - Soar!

Here's another Steampunk-themed card.

Truth be told, I stamped, colored, and fussy-cut this image ages ago, put it "somewhere safe", and discovered it when forced to move the stuff in my craft room around due a leak in the roof causing it to rain in the the kitchen, which necessitated access to the attic. Yeah. For real. Like that made sense in any world but mine.

But I was glad that I did find the image because I found out that it really is true. You can go back again and touch up your Copic coloring! She looked a little flat, so I went back in and worked on her hair, skin tones, and changed her eye color. Now someone needs to do that to me.

I ended up coloring the hot air balloons with my Copics because:
  1. I wanted to add color to the background.
  2. I like coloring patterned paper to make everything all matchy matchy.
  3. In all my patterned paper, I couldn't find anything that said "Yeah baby! That's it!'
  4. I'm a bit demented.
  5. All of the above.
Anyway, because I colored the image ages ago, I can only give a guess of which colors I used for the image.

Steampunk Card

It's Tuesday, which means that it's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. As you know, I love Steampunk and I love cats, which means that when I saw That's Crafty's new Steampunk Darlings sets, I knew that I had to have them. So far I've got two sets, but that will change, especially since there's a set with a bunch of cats.

Anyway, since I've decided that this week is Steampunk week on my blog, I decided to use my new Steampunk Darlings Set 2 by Kelly Horton for That's Crafty I also used the wonderful Steampunk Border Clear Stamp #116 by AALL and Create.

Here's the card, which does not have a sentiment. I don't know who will get the card for what occasion and the way things were going in the craft room, I didn't want to tempt fate.

Imagine 8x8 and 12x12 Patterned Paper Pads by Graphic 45®
Gold Foil Sticker Border by Starform

Instructions:
I was not having a great day in the craft room and tried to do my usual stamp, mask, and stamp or stencil over the image, but things were just not working out according to plan. So I went with Plan B. It's good to be flexible like that.
  1. Cut 12x12 blue cardstock to 10" x 7", score at 5" mark, and fold to form an A7 card. Set aside.
  2. I stamped both the cat and one of the three fabulous Steampunk women from the Steampunk Darlings Clear Stamp Set 2 onto white cardstock and fussy-cut both images.
  3. I decided to take the easy way out and use patterned paper for part of the background. That of course turned out to be not easy as I collect Steampunk patterned paper. I knew that I wanted some flowers, so after a bunch of dilly-dallying, I settled on the papers from the Imagine pads.
  4. Both images were colored with Copic markers,
  5. Gold glitter pen was added to the brass accents on the image,
  6. A black marker to cover those unsightly white edges created by fussy-cutting. I hate white edges, except when they're intentional.
  7. Using Onyx Black VersaFine ink, the Steampunk Border Clear Stamp #116 was stamped onto blue patterned paper from the same pad.
  8. I trimmed the paper, used a scissor blade to distress the edges, and then used a gold leafing pen to gild them.
  9. The patterned papers were layered and clock-themed washi tape was added to the bottom.
  10. The edges of the card front were distressed and I added gold leaf pen to them.
  11. I decided thatI should add a gold foil sticker border, so I did.
  12. The card front was adhered to the blue card.
  13. The colored images were adhered as shown to finish the card.

  12. Use a VersaMarker to add dots and dashes to any open areas of the cover and heat emboss with any of the three colors of embossing enamel.
  13. Use Roxy Mini and Roxy Mini Shadow to cut black cardstock for the title.
  14. Repeat step #13 three times, then glue three levels of each letter together to make it dimensional. Let them dry.
  15. When the letters are dry, press each Roxy Mini letter onto the VersaMark pad, put the letter into the Aged Bronze Frantage Embossing Enamel Jar, shake off the excess, and heat set.
  16. Press each Roxy Mini Shadow letter onto the VersaMark pad, put the letter into the Aged Silver Frantage Embossing Enamel Jar, shake off the excess, and heat set.
  17. Use glue to adhere each Bronze-embossed Roxy Mini Letter to each Silver-embossed Roxy Mini Shadow letter. Let dry.
  18. When dry, use strong glue or heavy duty gel medium to adhere the title letters as shown.
  19. Using the Frame Chain Circle die, cut black cardstock three times, then use glue to adhere to create a dimensional Frame Chain Circle. Let dry.
  20. Using the Chain die, cut black cardstock three times, then use glue to adhere the layers together. Let dry.
  21. When both the Frame Chain Circle and Chain die-cuts are dry, press them into a VersaMark pad, then sprinkle with the Aged Brass Frantage embossing enamel. Dump off the excess and heat set.
  22. Use foam adhesive squares and glue to adhere the Steampunk Skull to the Frame Chain Circle, then adhere to the front of the notebook as shown.
  23. Use glue to adhere to chain to bottom of the notebook as shown. Let dry, preferably overnight.
  24. Place the Cling Crackle 6x6 Stamp face up on your work surface. ink the stamp with the Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair ink and press the back cover onto the stamp. Carefully smooth your hands over the cover to get a good impression.
  25. Remove the cover from the stamp, flip over, sprinkle on Teal Frantage Embossing Enamel, dump the excess, and heat set.
  26. Repeat Steps 9-12 to complete the back cover.
  27. Replace the covers to the notebook and close the spiral binding.
The Frantage Embossing Enamels added such great texture and shine. I really wish you could see it up close!

Proud Peacock

It's Tuesday, which means that it's my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my TFS teammates and I are sharing projects created with Hunkydory Crafts' Dots to Diamonds Papercraft Pads, which are 48-sheet pads, with 12 preprinted designs, each of which has a selection of dots printed on it showing exactly where to add Hunkydory Crafts' Diamond Sparkle Gemstones for maximum impact. The other great thing is that the papers in the pad can handle Copic markers, sprays, and dye inks!

You should pop by the TFS blog throughout the week to see what the this talented group of ladies have done this week.

I've used the beautiful peacock design from the Dots to Diamonds Papercraft Pad #2, one of four pads in the store, plus Blue Diamond Sparkles Glitter Gemstones, Festive Diamond Sparkles Gemstones Blue Ombre, Rainforest Green, and Evergreen Prism Pads. I've also used the Twirling Tendrils Stencil #86 by AALL and Create.

Here's my card!
