Spooky!

It's Tuesday so its my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps with you. This week my teammates and I exploring the themes Fall or Halloween, which for me is an easy choice! 

Here's my Halloween card created with Halloween Collection 1 Clear Stamp Set by Melina Dahl for That's Crafty, Steampunk Darlings Accessories Set 1 by That's Crafty,  Small Elements Set 2 Clear Stamp Set by That's Crafty, and the

Instructions and Notes:
  1. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the skull from the Halloween Collection 1 Clear Stamp Set onto white cardstock. 
  2. Fussy-cut the skull, color it with Copic markers, and edge it with a dark marker. Set it aside.
  3.  Sponge  Fire Coral, Orange Zest, and Canary Yellow Prism Inks onto white metallic cardstock from the Neenah Creative Collection Premium Metallic Cardstock.* Heat set.
  4. Use Jet Black Archival ink to stamp the wings, from the Steampunk Darlings Clear Stamp Set by Kelly Horton for That's Crafty onto the sponged metallic cardstock. 
  5. Fussy-cut the wings.
  6. Color the gears, armature, and rivets with silver gel pen and/or metallic markers.
  7. Use a black pen to edge the wings. Set them aside.
  8. Use the 2" Speedball Brayer to apply Blue Lagoon, Mulberry, and Merlot Elements Inks onto a 5" x 7" Gel Press. 
  9. Pull the print onto Mixed Media cardstock. Repeat this step to improve coverage if wanted.
  10. Mist the print with water and heat set.
  11. Use magnets to secure the print to the stamping platform.
  12. Position the spiderweb border stamp from the Skullduggery Borders facedown across the bottom of the print.
  13. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
  14. Ink the stamp with white hybrid ink. Stamp.
  15. Repeat Step 14 if necessary. 
  16. Remove and clean the spiderweb stamp.
  17. Position the spiders stamp from the Halloween Collection Stamp Set facedown onto the spider web. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
  18. Ink the stamp with Onyx Black VersaFine ink, then stamp.
  19. Clean the stamp.
  20. Repeat Steps 17-19 until you have a spiders across the web. 
  21. Be happy that you don't have all those spiders in real life.
  22. Position the word "Spooky" facedown on the image panel under the spiderweb.
  23. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
  24. Ink the stamp with Onyx Black VersaFine ink, then stamp.
  25. Clean the stamp.
  26. Position the drippy stamp from the Small Elements Set 2 Clear Stamp Set facedown onto the image panel so that it's flush right with the edge the panel.
  27. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
  28. Ink the stamp with Onyx Black VersaFine ink, then stamp. Repeat if necessary for a good impression.
  29. Move the cardstock and the magnets to the right being sure to keep the cardstock flush with the base of the platform. 
  30. Re-ink the stamp with Onyx Black VersaFine ink and stamp.
  31. Repeat Steps 29 and 30 until you have a row of drips. 
  32. Remove the background panel from the stamping platform and heat set all stamping.
  33. Use a black Posca Paint pen to touch up the spiders' bodies and legs since it's likely that the white ink bled through the black ink.*
  34. Trim the background panel to 6.75" x 4.75".
  35. Use Black Soot Distress Ink to edge the background panel.
  36. Adhere the wings and the skull to the background panel as shown.
  37. Adhere the background panel to a 7" x 5" black card.
Notes:
  • The Steampunk Darlings Accessories Clear Stamp Set is sold out, but there are still others available at Topflight Stamps. They're great fun, especially if you like Steampunk imagery and also like Animé.
  • Sponging dye ink onto white metallic cardstock yields lovely shimmery color. 
  • Retrospectively, I should have used white detail embossing powder to heat emboss the spider web.
  • White Hybrid ink sometimes does not play nicely with VersaFine ink, which is a pigment ink.
