  2. Cut a piece of 9" x 12" Mixed Media Cardstock in half. Reserve half and cut the other half to 4.5" x 6".
  3. Start to create your background by applying a drop or two of Mermaid Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint to a craft sheet and spread with the brayer.
  4. Randomly brayer the paint onto the mixed media cardstock until all the paint on the craft sheet and brayer is gone.
  5. Repeat Steps #2 and #3 with Blah Mange Fresco Finish Chalk  Acrylic Paint. These two colors of paint (in Steps #2 to #4) are opaque so the colors will overlap with a bit of blending.
  6. Repeat Steps #2 to #4 until the mixed media cardstock is covered with paint.
  7. Repeat Steps #2 and #3 with South Pacific Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint, then with Prawn  Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint. These paints are tranlucent and semi-opaque respectively, so that you can see some of the color underneath them.
  8. Continue to brayer on the paint until you're happy with the coverage and the patterns.
  9. Give the painted background a blast with a heat gun to ensure that it's completely dry. Since the  Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints are quick drying, it shouldn't take too long.
  10. Pounce a non-static powder bag or a used dryer sheet onto the background panel.
  11. Use Acorn and Pinecone VersaFine Clair to stamp the bean cluster from the Coffee Set onto the painted background.
  12. Use the same inks to stamp the single coffee bean in the gaps.
  13. Add Clear Detail Embossing Powder, dump off the excess, and heat set.
  14. Trim the background panel to 4" wide.
  15. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the To Go Coffee Cup onto Neenah cardstock.
  16. Fussy-cut, color with Copic markers, and edge with a black pen. Set aside.
  17. Trim a panel of the dry-embossed Kraft cardstock to 2.25" x 6.
  18. Use Roasted Coffee Prism Ink to stamp the Coffee Rings randomly onto the Kraft cardstock.
  19. Use Pinecone VersaFine Clair ink to stamp the sentiment towards the top of the panel.
  20. Edge the stamped Kraft cardstock panel with Roasted Coffee Prism ink.
  21. Cut a strip of the remaining teal cardstock from Step #1 to 2.5" x 6" and use to mat the kraft strip.
  22. Trim the matted Kraft panel to 5.5".
  23. Apply Clock-patterned Washi tape to the base of the matted Kraft panel as shown, then adhere to the background panel to create the card front.
  24. Trim the card front to 5.25" and edge the entire card with Roasted Coffee Prism ink.
  25. Adhere the card front to teal A2 card.

Catish Tales at Kath's Tales

It's Tuesday, which means it's time to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my teammates and I are showcasing the wonderful Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints  by PaperArtsy. If you like acrylic paints and haven't tried these yet, you absolutely must. There are over 180 colors of paint, encompassing 22 color families. These paints produce a lovely chalk finish and are wonderful to create stampable or stencilable (new word) backgrounds. You can also use them to paint images or other elements.

Here's my slimline card.

  15. Use the largest die from the Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangles die to cut black cardstock.

Explore!

It's Tuesday, which means it's time to share a project created for Topflight StampsI've had the itch to travel and explore for a while now, which has been thwarted. However, I can always imagine, right? I've had the Camel Travel and the Desert Mirage from the Art by Marlene Artsy rabia Collection by Studio Light for awhile now and decided it was time to use them to make this large card. I *think* I might have seen a similar scene on Pinterest or Instagram, but I can't recall who made it, but kudos to whomever are definitely deserved.

When you think of camels and the desert, you think of pyramids, lots of sand, and an oasis with some palm trees. I can't sketch for love or money, but I can use stencils, so I used the Totally Triangular Stencil by AALL and Create to make my pyramids. I also used two of the Acetate Hill Masks-Stencil by Lavinia Stamps to create my desert.

Here's my card.

  13. Place the fussy-cut Post-It Note triangles over their pyramid counterparts as masks.

  23. Trim the image panel to 5" x 8", edge with either Summer Sky or Desert Sand Memento ink.
  24. Adhere the image panel to patterned paper cut .25" larger than the image panel, then to a 5.5" x 8.5" kraft card.
  25. Use Onyx Black VersaFine Ink to stamp the sentiment from the Destination Unknown Clear Polymer Stamp Set onto a scrap of patterned paper.  Heat set with sparkly black embossing powder.
  26. Use the center of one of the dies from the Fancy Framed Tags Die set to cut the sentiment panel.
  27. Use the matching frame from the set to cut a scrap of Kraft card.
  28. Adhere the sentiment die-cuts and add red gemstones from the Diamond Sparkles Gemstones Festive Selection to finish the card.
A Note: I used Memento ink for the backgrounds because it is Copic friendly and I knew I'd be touching up the pyramids, desert, and the sky.
