A Lavinia Steampunk Card

Greetings! It's Tuesday, my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my teammates and I are showcasing Lavinia Stamps''s fabulous products. Lavinia Stamps' recent release included the Thayer Clear Polymer Stamp Set, which features a fabulous guy stamp and accessories for it. I thought he would look wonderful as a Steampunk dude, so I created a Steampunk card featuring him wearing the Topper Clear Polymer Stamp.

Here's the card!

  3. Fussy-cut both images.
  4. Use Copic marker to color them.
  5. Use the black Multi-liner to edge both fussy-cut images.

  7. Use a gold metallic marker to color the eyelets and other brass elements on the Topper.
  8. Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the monocle from the Thayer Clear Polymer Stamp Set over his left eye. *
  9. Add Brass Detail Embossing Powder  to the monocle, dump the excess into the container, then heat set the monocle. *
  10. Add clear gloss Glaze pen to add dimension and shine to the monocle's lens. Let Glaze Pen Gel ink dry before adding the next layer.
  11. Continue to add layers of clear Glaze pen to the monocle until the gloss and dimension are built up sufficiently.
  12. Set Thayer and his Topper aside.
  13. Cut a piece of Destinations patterned paper to 4.75" x 6.75".
  14. Mute the patterned paper with White Distress Stain.
  15. Spatter paint from a white Uni-Posca Paint pen onto the patterned paper.
  16. Use a stamping platform and Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the Compass (Small) Clear Polymer Stamp on the upper left and the Key (Small) Clear Polymer Stamp on the lower right.
  17. Add Brass Detail Embossing Powder to the compass and the key impressions. Dump the excess was removed, and the images were heat set.
  18. Repeat Steps #16 and 17 to add add the clocks from the Clock Set 1 Clear Polymer Stamp Set and cogs from both  Cog Set 2 Clear Polymer Stamp Set and Cog Set 3 Clear Polymer Stamp Set to the other corners.
  19. Drag the Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink pad along the edges of the finished background panel.
  20. Add Fine Detail Brass Embossing Powder to the edges, remove the excess ep, and the background heat set all edges.
  21. Repeat Steps #19 and #20 if desired.
  22. Adhere the background panel to the reserved navy 5" x 7" card.
  23. Use the rectangle frame die to cut navy cardstock.
  24. Cut a piece of patterned paper from the same stack to be used behind the frame.
  25. Use Medieval Blue VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the Steampunk Script Clear Polymer Stamp onto the patterned paper twice.
  26. Use Crimson Red VersaFine ink to stamp Textures 2 Clear Polymer Stamp onto the patterned paper panel. The panel was heat set,
  27. Adhere Thayer and his Topper to the stamped patterned paper panel.
  28. Adhere the frame die-cut  overtop.
  29. Adhere the frame to the background to finish the card.
Notes:
  • VersaFine and VersaFine Inks are perfect for detailed stamps such as these.
  • VersaFine and VersaFine Inks work really well with embossing powder.
  • My embossing powder, by Personal Stamp Exchange, is really old. Keeping embossing powders in a drawer with dessicant packet or capsules seems to increase their "lifespan".
