You're Totally Badass

I know it's not Tuesday but I'm going to share a card created for created for Topflight Stamps. When I saw the Be Bold Red Rubber Cling Stamp Set and Sweary Affirmations Sentiment Strip Red Rubber Cling Stamp by Darkroom Door, both sets really resonated with me. The women in the Be Bold Red Rubber Cling Stamp Set look tough and strong. I loved the Sweary Affirmations Sentiment Strip Red Rubber Cling Stamp because I tend to be a bit very sweary. I thought both sets together would make wonderful affirmation and encouragement cards for the young women in my life.

Whereas my normal inclination would be to stamp and watercolor the graphic stamps in the Be Bold Red Rubber Cling Stamp Set, I decided to try the "no lines" technique using my Copic markers.

Here it is!

Instructions:
  1. Cut a piece of Raven cardstock to 8.5" x 5.5". Score at 4.25" and fold to form an A2 card. Set aside.
  2. Use Lulu Lavender Memento ink to stamp one of the women from the Be Bold Red Rubber Cling Stamp Set.
  3. Use Copic markers to color the image.
  4. Use colored pencils to add some dimension and color to her hair.
  5. Scribble a pink chalk pencil onto paper and use a pointy cotton swab to pick up the chalk and add blush to her cheeks.
  6. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to her eyes and lip, and a gold gel pen was used to add the earrings which had gotten lost during the coloring process.
  7. Remove the wings of the brad, paint the bat with Gold Posca Paint pen, heat set, then adhere the bejeweled bat onto her choker.
  8. Cut Raven cardstock with the ornate frame die then use the die-cut to frame the image.
  9. Using a stamping platform, Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts to stamp the sentiment from the Sweary Affirmations Sentiment Strip Red Rubber Cling Stamp onto a piece of Ink Drops Candy 6x6 Pattered Paper Pad.
  10. Keeping the panel and stamp in place on the platform, ink the sentiment stamp with Golden Dazzle Delicata.
  11. Ink the stamp another time with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and overstamp yet again.
  12. Remove the sentiment stamped patterned paper panel from the stamping platform and heat set the ink.
  13. Trim the sentiment stamped patterned paper panel to 4" x 5.25".
  14. Use Golden Dazzle Delicata ink to edge both the framed colored image and the sentiment stamped patterned paper panel. Heat set.
  15. Adhere the sentiment panel to the reserved card.
  16. Adhere the image panel to the card front.
Notes:
  • I first tried to use ink that a lot of people use for "no-lines" coloring, but it was too dark for the image.
  • I tried using Angel Pink Memento ink, but the flesh tones became weird.
  • I ending up using the Lulu Lavender Memento ink to stamp the image because I usually use a BV marker to add shading to my Copic colored images. It worked-ish.
Thanks for visiting today! See you soon!
