Be Bold Wall Hanging

I know it's not Tuesday but I'm going to share another project created for Topflight Stamps. I've been really inspired by Darkroom Door's Be Bold Red Rubber Cling Stamp Set and Sweary Affirmations Sentiment Strip Red Rubber Cling Stamp.  Actually, when I first saw these stamps, I immediately thought of creating a wall-hanging using these fabulous stamp sets with leather-look and brushed silver metallic specialty papers that I had in my stash. I also knew that I had silver (and gold) spiky embellishments and barbed wire cutting dies.

Here it is!

Angled photo to show the silvery spikes and metallic paper.

Instructions:
  1. Using Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and a stamping platform, stamp the leather-clad sunglasses woman from the Be Bold Red Rubber Cling Stamp Set onto Mixed Media paper. Re-ink and re-stamp a few times to get a good impression. The image panel was thoroughly heat set.
  2. Use Tattered Rose, Milled Lavender, Blueprint Sketch, and Mermaid Lagoon Distress inks and markers to color the woman's face, hands, and hair. Heat set the image again just because it's better to be safe than smudgy.
  3. Stamp the image again onto repositionable label paper, fussy-cut it, and place it over the woman on the image panel as a mask.
  4. Use magnets to secure the image panel to the STAY-tion.
  5. Brush Blueprint Sketch Distress ink up from the bottom of the image panel.
  6. Brush Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink from the top downwards.
  7. Brush both colors to soften the blend line. Heat set.
  8. Ink the Torn Text Texture Red Rubber Cling Stamp with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink, stamp onto a piece of scrap, then stamp over the turquoise inked part of the image panel.
  9. Ink the Torn Text Texture Red Rubber Cling Stamp with Blueprint Sketch Distress ink, stamp off onto scrap paper, then stamp onto the blue portion of the image panel. Heat set.
  10. Use a stamping platform and Shimmery Silver Delicata ink to stamp the sentiments from the Be Bold Red Rubber Cling Stamp Set and Sweary Affirmations Sentiment Strip Red Rubber Cling Stamp onto the leather specialty paper.
  11. Cover the wet ink with Detail Silver Embossing Powder, dump off the excess, and heat set.
  12. Using Stick-It, adhere the black leather specialty paper to black cardstock.*
  13. Use stitched and plain rectangle dies to cut the Sweary Affirmations sentiments.
  14. Cut the Be Bold and Be You sentiments from the Be Bold Red Rubber Cling Stamp Set with a tag die, which yielded two square die-cuts.
  15. Cut Brushed Silver Metallic specialty paper with the same tag die to get the stitched frames.
  16. Cut black leather specialty paper twice with an ancient border die and with the rectangular frame die.
  17. Apply sturdy two-sided tape to the back of the silver metallic specialty paper.
  18. Cut brushed silver metallic specialty paper with the barbed wire dies.
  19. Adhere the barbed wire die-cuts to the frame.
  20. Adhere the frame over the image panel to frame the image.
  21. Adhere two pieces of black cardstock together, then adhere silver cardstock to the two-ply cardstock to create a sturdy base for the wall hanging.
  22. Trim a piece of textured black leather paper and adhere to the silver base created in Step 21.
  23. Adhere the framed image panel, the two titles, and the sentiment die-cuts to the textured black leather paper.
  24. Adhere the two border strips to either side.
  25. Adhere the spikes to cover the holes in the borders.
Notes:
  • The non-textured leather cardstock is thin, so adhering it to black cardstock makes it easier to die-cut, trim, etc.
  • Using a Sookwang tape or another strong two-sided adhesive tapes to back thin paper makes it easier to cut and adhere die-cuts.
