Stamping Platform

Instructions:
  1. Cut a piece of black cardstock to 10" x 7", score at 5", and fold to form a 5" x 7" card. Set aside.
  2. Use magnets to secure a piece of 5.5" x 7" piece of white cardstock to the base of the stamping platform.
  3. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the stamping platform to stamp the owl from the Odette Owl Clear Photopolymer Stamp Set (which has fourteen stamps, including two sentiments!) onto the image panel.
  4. Re-ink the stamp and stamp the owl onto repositionable label paper.
  5. Fussy-cut the label paper owl be used as a mask.
  6. Adhere the owl mask over its counterpart on the image panel.
  7. Place the witch hat stamp from the Odette Owl Clear Photopolymer Stamp Set facedown on the masked owl to determine its position.
  8. Since I wanted the brim of the witch hat over Odette's forehead, I cut off the top of the mask, then re-adhered the mask over her image.
  9. Reposition the witch hat facedown on the masked image panel.
  10. Press the lid of the platform onto the back of the stamp, lift the lid, ink the stamp with Tuxedo Black ink, and stamp.
  11. Re-ink the stamp and stamp the witch hat onto repositionable label paper.
  12. Fussy-cut the label paper witch hat and adhere it over its counterpart.
  13. Brush Tumbled Glass and Bundled Sage Distress ink over the masked images to create colored background*
  14. Remove the masks and reserve for another use.*
  15. Color the images with Copic markers.
  16. Randomly brush Tumbled Glass Distress ink over  the Divine 8x8 Stencil to add some interest to the background.
  17. Trim the image panel to 4.75" x 6.75" and edge it with Black Soot Distress ink. The strip that was left was used for the sentiment.
  18. Use magnets to secure the leftover strip to the base of the stamping platform.
  19. Position the "Happy Holidays" sentiment from the Holiday Sentiment Duos Clear Stamp Set facedown onto the leftover strip.
  20. Press the lid of the platform onto the back of the stamp and lift the lid.
  21. Place a Post-It Note over the "Happy Holidays" on the sentiment.
  22. Ink the stamp with Onyx Black VersaFine Ink and remove the PostIt Note.
  23. Stamp the sentiment was stamped onto the leftover strip.
  24. Use the smallest die from the Sue Wilson Slimline Collection, Essential Rectangle Frames Die Set by Creative Expressions to cut the sentiment.,
  25. Trim the sentiment strip and edged with Black Soot Distress ink.
  26. Adhere the sentiment die-cut to the image panel as shown.
  27. Adhere the image panel to the reserved black 5" x 7" card.
Notes:
  • Distress ink was used because I wanted to use my Copic markers. If I had opted to use watercolors as a colorant, I probably would have selected by beloved Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps.
  • I store the reserved fussy-cut masks either with my clear stamps in clear envelopes or on pieces of scrap cardstock in file folders organized by manufacturer.
I shall enter this card into the following challenges:
