Shenanigans!

I know it's Saturday, but I'm sharing a card created for  But first, I want to remind you that Topflight Stamps is holding a Moving Sale, so you really ought to pop over there right now to check out all the wonderful products that you can get! It has cats. It has mice. It has mice turning the tables on the cat. Brilliant!

Here's my card, that I'll likely sent to a fellow cat lady.

Stamping Platform
Stamp-a-Ma-Jig® by EK Success®
8x10 Gel Press
Wide Brayer

Please note that this card is out of my comfort zone in three ways.
• I created the blue sky background using Fresco Finish Chalk Paint by PaperArtsy on my big Gel Press, which is the first time that I successfully used acrylics on a Gel Press. I've tried before and ended up tossing them. This time it worked! Yahoo!

• I painted the dragonflies, stepping stones, and painted the grassy foreground freehand. I use acrylics, but usually to create a background and/or paint chipboard and die-cuts.

•  The color scheme is seriously bright and way outside my usual comfort zone. This alone almost led me to bin the entire thing. My daughter and some friends told me to keep going. So I did.

Instructions:
  1. Apply a few dots of Summer Sky, Periwinkle, and Snowflake Fresco Finish Chalk Paint onto a Gel Press and use a brayer to blend the colors. Press a 6x12 strip of Mixed Media cardstock onto the Gel Press. Smooth or brayer over the back, and pull the print. Heat set.
  2. Used the second largest die from the Essential Rectangle Slimline Frame Die Set from the Sue Wilson Slimline Collection to cut the painted/printed cardstock to form the image panel.
  3. Secure the painted die-cut to the base of the stamping platform with magnets.
  4. Place the the fairy house and the stone path from the Kay Carley #35 Rubber Cling Mounted Set and the two dragonflies from the Kay Carley MINI #27 Rubber Cling Mounted Stamp facedown onto the image panel.
  5. Press the lid of the platform onto the back of the stamps, lift the lid, ink the stamps with Onyx Black VersaFine ink, and stamp. Repeat if necessary for a good impression.
  6. Paint the dragonflies with Southern Skies and Bougainvillea Fresco Finish Chalk Paint.
  7. Paint the stone walkwaywith Little Black Dress, Elephant, and Stone Fresco Finish Chalk Paints.
  8. Put the image panel back onto the stamp platform and restamp the stones to fix painting mistakes.
  9. Use Limelight, Lawn, and Hyde Park Fresco Finish Chalk Paints to paint the grassy area.
  10. Use the paint pens to add flower stems and flowers to the grassy area. I could have and probably should have used Fresco Finish Chalk Paints to add the flowers, but I didn't want to push my luck.
  11. Heat set the image panel and set aside.
  12. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the fairy house onto white cardstock.
  13. Fussy-cut the image, color it with Copic markers in seriously bright colors, then edge the image with a dark marker.
  14. Coat the windows and the stones between the roof and the rest of the house wit Clear Glaze Pen to add dimension and shine. Let dry and repeat to build up layers.
  15. Adhere the colored fairy house onto its counterpart on the image panel.
  16. Use the clear Aqua Shimmer pen add sparkle to the dragonflies' bodies and wings.
  17. Use the Blue Stardust glitter pen to add dragonfly trails.
  18. Distress the edges of the image panel to create a bit more visual interest.
  19. Mat the image panel die-cut with black cardstock.
  20. Use Onyx Black VersaFine Ink to stamp the sentiments  onto a leftover piece of painted cardstock, die-cut, and edge with Black Soot Distress ink.
  21. Cut green cardstock with the largest die from the Essential Rectangle Slimline Frame Die Set then mat with black cardstock.
  22. Assemble the layers and adhere to a green card.
  23. Adhere the sentiments as shown to finish the card.
