It's a Darkroom Door Day!

We're sharing projects using Darkroom Door Sentiment Strip Rubber Stamps this week on Topflight Stamps Blog. If you haven't seen this fabulous group of stamps, you really ought to check them out because they're ever so versatile and useful. You should also pop over to TFS's blog all week to see how my teammates are using them!

Here's my card using the Make Art Sentiment Strip stamp, the Paint Brushes stamp, and the Paint Tube Stamps. All of the stamps are by Darkroom Door.

Stamping Platform

Instructions:
  1. Secure a piece of 140 lb. Mixed Media paper onto the base of the stamping platform using magnets.
  2. Position the Paint Tubes stamp opposite the Brushes stamp. Ink the stamps with Jet Black Archival ink and stamp.
  3. Paint the tubes, brushes, and a paint swash between them using the IPC1 Small Point Blend Brush and Media Fluid Acrylic paints. Heat set to ensure that the paints are completely dry.
  4. Use the Pitt Artist pen to touch up the stamped lines. Heat set.
  5. Sponge Old Paper Distress ink over the image panel. The paint will resist the ink. Use a dry cloth to wipe away excess ink.
  6. Trim the image panel and edge with the silver leafing pen.
  7. Secure scrap paper to the base of the stamping platform with magnets.
  8. Position the sentiment strip as desired, ink with Onyx Fine VersaMark ink, and stamp onto the scrap paper.
  9. Quickly lift the scrap paper from the platform and replace with the vellum in the same position.
  10. Stamp again.
  11. Trim the stamped vellum to use the words you want and edge with sliver leafing pen.
  12. Staple the vellum strip to the image panel as shown.
  13. Mat the image panel with brown cardstock.
  14. Trim the Double Dot paper to 6" x 4", edge with Brushed Corduroy Distress ink.
  15. Adhere the image panel to the patterned paper, then adhere to a 6.25" x 4.25" brown card.
  16. After the card is done, realize that the pooled paint and drips are going the wrong way because you painted the scene in the wrong orientation. Oops. Bad me.
The talented and lovely Deb Antonick recommended that I try IPC Small Point Blend Brush by Dynasty Brush Company and I am in love! I got great coverage with great control and not one shedding brush hair!
