It's Spring! Time for Flowers!

It's officially spring and though we had a little snowfall last night, the trees are beginning to bud and bloom, which means that the flowers will not be far behind.

Here's my card with the Quarter Sheet Dahlia (Stampinback) that is available at I Brake for Stamps.

I wasn't very familiar with dahlias until I went to Madrid last fall. While there, we visited a public garden that had a plethora of dahlias in all different colors of the rainbow, plus black and white. Gorgeous!

The Dahlia was stamped onto mixed media cardstock then heat set with clear embossing powder (Stewart Superior). The Dahlia was then colored with markers.

When I was done coloring, I grabbed my water brush and working in sections, added water around the outline of the Dahlia. While each section was wet, water color was added. When I was done with the background, I distressed the edges of the image panel.

Watercolors were used to color a panel of mixed media cardstock, then Victorian Velvet Distress ink (Ranger) was sponged over stencils. This piece was trimmed to 4.75" square and the edges were sponged with Seedless Preserves Distress ink.

A piece of the leftover sponged cardstock was stamped with one of the three sentiments included on the Quarter Sheet Dahlia  using Onyx Black VersaFine ink, then heat set with the same embossing powder. This was die-cut and the sentiment die-cut was adhered to the image panel. The image panel was adhered to the card front, then mounted on a white card and I called it done!
