Steampunk'd

Today the SCACD Design Team is celebrating with some inspiration on our blogs! Take some time to visit each blog because I'm sure they'll be rocking the SCACD stamps and dies.

Here's my project, which should enlarge if you click on it!

I've been in a mixed media mood lately and been playing with all sorts of paints and sprays and stencils that are new to me and are available at SCACD!

I decided to combine Steampunk Eyes from SCACD's Eyes of Adventure and Fables collection with the Steampunk Lace stencil from ArtistCellar.

I sprayed Plush (Purple) Colorations Mist from Art Anthology, Fresh Lime and London Blue from Dylusions, and Bronzer Color Shine by Heidi Swapp onto glossy cardstock. I sprayed, heat set, sprayed, heat set, and so on until I was happy with the coverage and the look.

The Steampunk Lace stencil was adhered to the dried sprayed cardstock with temporary adhesive because I didn't want the paint to seep under the edges of the stencil, which happened repeatedly over the weekend. To keep the stencil from moving around, I taped it down with removable tape. Then I pounced Black Ice Silkz Acrylic Glaze over the stencil. When the Glaze dried, I lifted the stencil and immediately took it to the sink to wash it with ScrapPerfect's Best Cleaner Ever, which removed the dried paint and the adhesive AND even removed some of the ink from my hands!

Steampunk Eyes was stamped onto Neenah cardstock using Black Tuxedo Memento Ink and colored with Copic markers, which I'll list below. Gelly Roll Clear Glaze pen was used on her watch, buckles, gears, and buttons and Glossy Accents was used on the lens of her goggles. She was fussy cut and put aside while I did some die cutting!

SCACD's Key Corner die, Classic Timepiece die, and Alterations mini-Gears dies were used to cut metallic gold cardstock. The die cuts were layered over the base of the sprayed glossy cardstock and black glittered tape was added over the top of the die cuts. Steampunk Eyes was adhered, the corner die cut was added and I called the card done!

Thanks for reading all that and for visiting today! Don't forget to visit my SCACD teamies' blogs!
