By the way, the Vintage Ink Core Collection, which is comprised of Forever True Clear Stamp SetHello Sailor Clear Stamp Set is on sale right now, and so is the Rope Frame Die Set!

Instructions:
  1. Create an 5.5" x 8.5" card from black cardstock. Set aside.
  2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the Sailor image from the Hello Sailor Clear Stamp Set twice — once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper.
  3. Use Copic markers to color the image on the cardstock.
  4. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it over its counterpart on the image panel as a mask.
  5. Place the center die from the Rope Frame Die Set facedown over the image panel and secure with low-tack tape. Run this combo through your die-cut machine.
  6. Place the image panel die-cut onto a STAY-tion and secure with magnets.
  7. Place a piece of low-tack tape horizontally across the image panel where the sun's rays stop and the roses begin.
  8. Brush Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink over the tape and the masked image onto the die-cut.
  9. Remove the low-tack tape from the image panel. Replace it horizontally so that it's covering the top part of the image panel.
  10. Brush Uncharted Mariner Distress Ink over the tape and the masked image onto the bottom part of the image panel die-cut.
  11. Edge the image panel die-cut with a black marker.
  12. Use the Solid Rope Frame Die from the Rope Frame Die Set to cut mustard yellow Core'dinations Cardstock.
  13. Use a sanding block to rough up the surface and the edges.
  14. Use the Rope Frame Die to cut another piece of the mustard yellow Core'dinations Cardstock. Be sure to retain all the pieces that pop out of the die.
  15. Randomly sponge and edge both yellow die-cuts with Fossilized Amber, Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, and Tea Dye Distress Inks to add a touch of grunge to both die-cuts.
  16. Use a tape-runner type of adhesive around outside .5" of the solid frame die-cut.
  17. Adhere the open rope frame atop the solid rope frame.
  18. Place all the bits of inlay on a sticky mat and use a stipple brush to add splats and splotches of Distress ink to them.
  19. Inlay all the bits into their counterparts on the combined Rope Frame Die. It's fiddly, but worth it.
  20. Heavily edge the entire rope frame die-cut with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
  21. Adhere the image panel die-cut to the center of the Rope Frame.
  22. Realize that it's not straight. Be bummed out. Shrug it off.
  23. Cut two .5" strips of blue polka dot paper from the Vintage Ink 8x8 Patterned Paper Pad. Trim them to 6" wide.
  24. Adhere them to a piece of cardstock cut to 6" x 8.5".
  25. Trim the floral patterned paper from the Vintage Ink 8x8 Patterned Paper Pad to 6" wide. Edge both the top and bottom with a black pen.
  26. Adhere the floral patterned paper between the polka dot paper.
  27. Adhere the image panel die-cut to the layered patterned paper.
  28. Trim the layered paper to 5.5" wide which will cut off part of the rope frame. Alas. Alack. Poor planning on my part. Be more bummed out. Shrug it off again.
  29. Use a black marker to edge the 5.5" x 8.5" panel.
  30. Adhere it to the reserved black card.
  31. Back a piece of vellum with Sookwang or any other strong two-sided tape.
  32. Secure the vellum to the base of a stamping platform with tape, magnets, etc.
  33. Using a stamping platform and Azure StazOn Ink, stamp the "Love Anchors the Soul" sentiment from the Hello Sailor Clear Stamp Set. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression.
  34. Use a flag die to cut the sentiment.
  35. Trim the sentiment flag die-cut a tad.
  36. Remove the backing of the tape and adhere the sentiment as shown to finish the card.

Notes:
  • Here's some information from Wikipedia about the Hamsa.
"The hand, particularly the open right hand, is a sign of protection that also represents blessings, power and strength, and is seen as potent in deflecting the evil eye.The hand can be depicted with the fingers spread apart to ward off evil, or as closed together to bring good luck".

  • I like to use A10 cards for most of my slimline cards. They measure 9.5" x 4.125".

 Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of Raven (black) cardstock to 9.125" x 8.25". Score at 4.125" and fold to form a 9.125" x 4.125" card. Set aside.
  2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp all three Hamsas from the ATC Hamsa Hands Rubber Stamp Set onto white cardstock.
  3. Fussy-cut them, color them with Copic markers, and edge them with a dark marker. Set them aside.
  4. Trim the sheet of 12x12 floral/solid-ish patterned paper from the Kaleidoscope Collection to 8.875"" wide.
  5. Cut one piece to 8.875" x 3.875"and a second one to 8.25" x 3.25". Edge both piece with a black marker.
  6. Adhere the smaller sheet of patterned paper panel solid-ish side up onto the larger sheet of floral paper.
  7. The layered papers then were adhered to the reserved black card.
  8. Adhere the fussy-cut colored hamsas  to the card front as shown.
  9. Adhere gold foil sentiments and corner stickers to complete the card.
You should definitely partipate in this month's Fruit and Foliage Challenge #194 for a chance to win Lost Coast Cash!

Collect Beautiful Moments with Funky Fossil

Greetings! Saturday is my day to share a project created with products by Funky Fossil Designs who celebrated their sixth birthday in January with several great new releases. The Vintage Patchwork Collection is the final hurrah for their birthday month and its name describes it really well. The collection includes an 8x8 Vintage Patchwork Paper Pad, a 5 x 7 Three-Layer Patchwork Heart Stencil, an A5 Essential Ephemera Rub-Ons, an A7 Love Etc Clear Stamp Set,  and a Vintage Patchwork Signature Wallet.

Here's what  Funky Fossil Designs has to say about the new Vintage Patchwork Signature Wallet.
"Our 7th Signature Wallet contains a delicious combination of shabby chic papers and rub ons with a versatile stamp set which comes with a matching stencil and die plus a 5x7 stencil."

I decided to use some of the contents of the Vintage Patchwork Signature Wallet  with the A5 Essential Ephemera Rub-Ons and the A7 Love Etc Clear Stamp Set

Here's my card!

Funky Fossil Products Used:

Other Products Used:
Light Pink and Brown Cardstock by Bazzill Basics
Cloudy Sky Patterned Vellum: Source Unknown
Vintage Photo Archival Ink by Tim Holtz for Ranger Ink
Anti-static Pouch
VersaMark Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko
Detail Gold Embossing Powder
Matte Modge Podge by DecoArt
Dark Sepia and Light Skin Pitt Artist Pens by Faber Castell
Circle Die Set by QuicKutz
Gold UniPosca Paint Pens by Mitsubishi Pencil
Paintbrush
Glue Dots
Stamping Platform

Notes:
  • My instructions are going to be totally scattered as I encountered all sorts of challenges ranging from using old Modge Podge to having my Posca Paint Pen's nib fly out of the pen's body when I tapped it to scatter paint. Fortunately I did not have a paint explosion.
  • I should have heat set the Modge Podged layers prior to stamping. Bad result. Badder me.
  • Midway through the card, I was ready to bin the entire thing. My Funky Fossil teammates offered some great suggestions and I may/may not have salvaged the card.
  • I've come to the realization that pretty elegant shabby chic is so not my style. So moving forward, I will use this collection (which I love!) in my own way. In the words of the Tim "you be you".
Instructions:
  1. Fussy-cut a flower and a pair of flowers from two sheets of the same 5" x 7" patterned papers included in the Vintage Patchwork Signature Wallet.
  2. Tear a wide strip and a narrow strip of the vertical striped paper from the Vintage Patchwork Signature Wallet.
  3. Use Modge Podge to adhere the wide striped strip along the bottom of the blue/pink stucco looking patterned paper.
  4. Inadvertently tear the paper while adding another layer of Modge Podge overtop.
  5. Use Modge Podge to adhere the thin strip of striped paper over the tear.
  6. Use Modge Podge to adhere the single flower to the upper left and the flower cluster towards the bottom right overlapping the striped paper with a leaf.
  7. Trim the layered patterned paper to 4.75" x 6.75" and edge with Vintage Photo Archival Ink.
  8. Select the larger of the two harlequin patterned clear stamps from the stamp set included in the Vintage Patchwork Signature Wallet
  9. Ink the stamp with Vintage Photo Archival Ink and second generation stamp the harlequin in five places. I should probably have heat set the panel first as the impressions are very fuzzy. We'll call them faded and vintage.
  10. Apply a large butterfly rub-on from the A6 Vintage Patchwork Rub-Ons to a piece of pink cardstock.
  11. Fussy-cut the butterfly and edge with Vintage Photo Archival Ink.
  12. Apply the clock from the A5 Essential Ephemera Rub-Ons to pink cardstock, cut with a circle cutting die, and edge with Vintage Photo Archival Ink.
  13. Use Modge Podge to adhere the butterfly and the clock as shown.
  14. Add two small blue butterfly rub-ons from the A6 Vintage Patchwork Rub-Ons above and below the flower cluster on the right.
  15. Fussy-cut the small blue butterfly from the packaging of the A6 Vintage Patchwork Rub-Ons, fussy-cut, and edge with Vintage Photo Archival Ink.
  16. Adhere the butterfly over the clock as shown.
  17. Use Sepia and Light Flesh (a pale pink in reality) Pitt Artist Pens to outline the flower clusters and the large butterfly.
  18. Use a Gold Posca Paint Pen to splatter the panel. Hope your pen doesn't lose its nib halfway through. Add a bunch of the liberated gold paint to a small dish and use a paintbrush to continue splattering.
  19. Use the Sepia Pitt Artist Pen to edge the panel.
  20. Pat a piece of clouded sky blue vellum with an anti-static tool.
  21. Stamp the "collect beautiful moments" onto the vellum using VersaMark Ink.
  22. Pour Gold Detail Embossing Powder onto the wet ink, dump the excess powder back into its container, and heat set.
  23. Tear the vellum horizontally above and below the gold heat embossed sentiment.
  24. Tear a point onto the left side of the vellum strip.
  25. Add two pink jewel rub-ons from the A6 Vintage Patchwork Rub-Ons to the right side and one to the left side.
  26. Use Glue Dots under the jewel rub-ons and the heavier type to adhere the vellum to the panel.
  27. Adhere the panel to a brown 5" x 7" card.

Note: There are seven ninjas included in the Ninja Squad Stamp and Die Set, so I decided that their hood ribbons should be in ROYGBIV order.

Instructions:
  1. Use Obsidian Amalgam Ink by Gina K Designs to stamp all seven ninjas from the Ninja Squad Clear Stamp Set onto white cardstock..
  2. Color their faces, eyes, and hood ribbons with Copic markers.
  3. Use the Black Pigma BB Marker to color their ninja uniforms. I tried to use N Copics, but they got a bit streakier than I liked.
  4. Die-cut all the ninjas using the Ninja Squad Die Set. Set them aside. They'll be happy to get some exercise and practice done.
  5. Cut a piece of white cardstock to 6.75" x 4.75" for the background panel.
  6. Place the cardstock panel onto the STAY-tion.
  7. Add tickmarks .625" in from both sides.
  8. Add low-tack tape along the tickmarks to cover both sides.
  9. Place the first of the Three-layer Comic Book Burst Stencil over the background panel and secure it with a magnet in the center and low-tack tape along the top and bottom edges..
  10. Brush or sponge Pebble Ink over the stencil.
  11. Place the second Three-layer Comic Book Burst Stencil over the panel and secure in the center with the magnet and low-tack tape along the bottom and top edges.
  12. Brush or sponge Hoodie Ink over the stencil.
  13. Place the burst stencil from the Three-layer Comic Book Burst Stencil over the panel and secure with magnets and tape.
  14. Sponge or brush Black Jack Ink over the stencil.
  15. Move the tape covering the sides of the background panel so that they're covering the inside of the panel and revealing both sides.
  16. Sponge Pebble Ink over both sides of the background panel.
  17. Place the Halftone Stencil over the background panel and randomly sponge Pebble Ink over the entire background panel.
  18. Move the Halftone Stencil  to cover the left side of the background panel. Sponge Pebble Ink over the border area.
  19. Move the Halftone Stencil  to the right side and sponge Pebble Ink over the right border area.
  20. Center the Halftone Stencil  and randomly sponge Hoodie and Black Jack Ink over the background.
  21. Edge the background panel with with Black Jack Ink.
  22. Place the background panel onto a stamping platform and secure with magnets.
  23. Place the "Go for it" and "Have an action packed birthday" sentiments from the Ninja Squad Stamp and Die Set facedown on the top left and bottom right of the image panel.
  24. Ink the stamps with Nocturne VersaMark Clair ink and stamp the sentiments.
  25. Remove the background panel from the stamping platform and heat set the sentiments.
  26. Adhere all seven colored and die-cut Ninjas as shown.
  27. Create a 7" x 5" card from white cardstock.
  28. Sponge Black Jack Ink around the outer .5" of the card.
  29. Adhere the card front panel to the card.
