Meow!

Greetings! It's Tuesday, my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my teammates and I are focusing on Studio Light's wonderful products. When I saw the Cat Gentleman Clear Stamp, my inner vintage-Steampunk-grunge loving crazy cat lady heart knew I had to have it.

Instructions:
  1. Cut a piece of black cardstock to 8.5" x. 8.5", score at 4.25", and fold to form a slimline card.* Set aside.
  2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the Cat Gentleman twice –– once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper.
  3. Use Copic markers to color the Cat Gentleman and the background on the image panel.
  4. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version of the Cat Gentleman and place it over its counterpart as a mask.
  5. Use one of the dies from the Slimline Layers Die to cut the image panel.
  6. Pounce Black Soot Distress Ink, Lightning Black Brilliance ink*, and Starlite Silver Brilliance Inks onto the image panel to add grunginess.
  7. Edge with Lightning Black Brilliance ink.
  8. To create the background, cut a piece of Bristol Paper to 4.25" wide.
  9. Smoosh Della Blue Elements Ink onto the piece of acetate, use a Fine Spray Mister to mist with water, then press the inky acetate onto the Bristol Paper to apply the ink.
  10. Heat set the background.
  11. Clean the acetate.
  12. Repeat Steps #8 - 10 with Mermaid, then Sundance, and then Confetti Elements Inks until you're happy with the background.
  13. Thoroughly heat set the background panel.
  14. Use magnets to secure the background panel to the base of a stamping platform.
  15. Position the Vintage Clocks Clear Stamp facedown along the left side of the image panel. 
  16. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
  17. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp onto the background panel. 
  18. Heat set the background panel. *
  19. Remove the stamp from the platform's lid. Thoroughly clean and dry the stamp.
  20. Re-position the Vintage Clocks Clear Stamp facedown on the right side of the image panel.
  21. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
  22. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp onto the background panel. 
  23. Heat set. the panel.
  24. Remove the image panel from the platform.
  25. Using Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink, stamp the paw print stamps from the Meow Small Clear Stamp Set onto the empty areas of the background panel.
  26. Heat set the background panel.
  27. Adhere the background panel to the front of the reserved black card.
  28. Trim the background panel to 4.25" x 8.5" and edge with Lightning Black Brilliance Ink.*
  29. Take a piece of scrap Bristol Paper and repeat Steps #9-13. Heat set.
  30. Use magnets to secure the colored scrap of Bristol Paper to a stamping platform.
  31. Place the "Meow" stamp from the Meow Small Clear Stamp Set facedown on the colored Bristol Paper.
  32. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
  33. Ink the stamp with Lightning Black Brilliance ink.
  34. Remove the sentiment scrap from the stamping platform.*
  35. Dump clear detail embossing powder onto the wet ink, dump off the excess, and heat set.
  36. Return the embossed sentiment scrap to the platform and secure with magnets.
  37. Re-ink the stamp with Lightning Black Brilliance ink.
  38. Repeat Steps #34 and 35.
  39. Let the embossing powder cool.
  40. Use a flag die to cut the sentiment.
  41. Edge the sentiment with Lightning Black Brilliance ink.
  42. Adhere the sentiment to the card as shown.
Notes:
  • Lightning Black Brilliance ink is a gold/black metallic ink.
  • Slimline cards can be many sizes, the most common being 3.5" x 8.5". 
  • Mine was meant to fit in a #10 envelope (4" x 9"ish), but I forgot to trim .25" from the card once the background panel was adhered. Oops.
  • Keep packaging acetate. It's useful as an ink applicator or as a shaker card window. Some acetate can be heat or dry embossed.
  • Be mindful of which stamping platform you're using. You CAN NOT heat emboss on the base of the Misti Platform. You can on the Tonic platforms. Don't ask how I know.
