Instructions:
  1. Use Obsidian Amalgam Ink and a stamping platform to stamp the archway onto the image panel and again onto repositionable label paper.
  2. Fussy-cut the label paper image to create a mask and place it atop the arch on the image panel.
  3. Position the train and tracks stamp and stamp it onto the image panel.
  4. Lift and retain the mask.
  5. Use Copic markers to color the entire image panel.
  6. Add white gel pen accents as needed.
  7. Trim the image panel to fit onto the journal page and edge it with Graphite Elements Inusing a Blender. Set aside.
  8. Use the largest of the Black Blending Brushes to brush Graphite Elements Ink over the journal page. True Confession: I only brushed a 1" border around the page as I knew that most of the page would be covered.
  9. Mist the page with water and heat set.
  10. Use Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Inks by Tsukineko to stamp the Newsprint Numbers Clear Stamp #434 on the top left and bottom right of the journal page.
  11. Stamp the Multilayered Cogs Clear Stamp  #664 on the top right and bottom left.
  12. Stamp the digits from the Reckoner Digits Clear Stamp #543 by Tracy Evans to fill the gaps and to add another layer of detail. The rows of numbers in the stamp reminded me of a train schedule.
  13. Edge the journal page and the binding holes with Graphite Elements Ink
  14. Adhere the  image panel to the journal page.
  15. Use a dark marker to edge the sticker, then adhere it to finish the page.
Thanks for visiting today!

  1. This is amazing Kathi! I adore this train and just love the vintage color palette you've worked with. What an incredible page. Now I wonder: how will you get the pages back in the journal? xx, Autumn

    1. This kind of spiral is easy to take apart, take pages out, and add them back again. It only gets dicey when there's another page on the back. Then I have to be extra careful to make sure that the right side is up. Guess why
