True North

It's Tuesday which is my day to share a project created for Topflight StampsTruth be told, this was supposed to be a journal page, but morphed into an encouragement card when I realized that I measured my journal incorrectly, which proves the adage "Measure twice, cut once!" Alas.

Anyways, it's downright warm in these parts which means it's time to get to the shore and/or on the water,  so I opted to use an image and sentiment stamp from  PaperArtsy's  Lynne Perrella 001 Rubber Cling Stamp Set with a compass and scenery stamp from the Scrapcosy 11 Rubber Cling Mounted Stamp Set.

Instructions:

1. Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair™ Inks by Tsukineko® to stamp the moon and the earth cluster onto Bristol Paper and heat set with Silver Detail embossing powder.

2. Stamp both images onto repositionable label paper, which was fussy-cut to create masks.

3. Place the masks over their counterparts on the image panel.

4. Use Charming Pink and Monarch VersaFine Clair™ Ink with  Blenders by Lavinia Stamps to sponge the ink from the edges of the image panel and over the masked images.

5.  Sponge Paradise VersaFine Clair™ Ink onto the image panel taking care to blend the blue into the pink and purple.

6. Fill a  mini-mister with 91% isopropyl alcohol and mist over the image panel. The alcohol reacts with the ink, leaving some splatters and splotches. *Be sure to have a window open as it's not a great idea to inhale the aerosolized alcohol ink. Personally, I like how it smells, but I'm weird like that.

7. Remove and reserve the masks.

8. Use a clean cloth to remove the ink from the embossed images, specifically the chains and other dangly bits that weren't covered by masks.

9. Smoosh the Monarch and Paradise VersaFine Clair™ Ink pads onto acetate, mist with alcohol, and use a Fantastix or a fine paint brush to color the holes in the cogs and the interior of the clock.

10. Smoosh Charming PinkGreen Oasis and Warm Breeze Green Oasis VersaFine Clair™ Inks onto acetate, mist with alcohol, and color the earth, the clock rim, and the little globes near the moon.

11. Use metallic watercolors, such as Twinklin' H2Os to color the rest of the image panel.

12. Use a silver metallic pen to go over any highlights that need to be touched up.

13. Use Frost VersaMark ink to stamp the mini stars and bursts onto the image panel and heat set with Detail White embossing Powder.

14. Randomly stencil gears from the Steam Cogs Stencil #71 using Monarch VersaFine Clair™ Ink

15. Trim the image panel to 5.25" x 8.25".

16. Edge the panel with Monarch VersaFine Clair™ Ink.

17. Adhere to a white 5.5" x 8.5" card.

18. Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair™ Ink to stamp the sentiment onto vellum.

19. Add Black Detail embossing powder, dump off excess, and heat set.

20. Adhere double sided tape to the reverse of the vellum, then use a decorative label die to cut the sentiment.

21. Adhere the sentiment die-cut to the background as shown.

22. Add the gemstones to the finish the card.
