Magnetic Memo Board

My memory is shot, so I made a magnetic memo board so that I could post reminder notes to myself.

I found a cookie sheet at the dollar store and decorated it with a stamped scene, a great quote, patterned paper, sea shells from my collection, and a ton of glass mini-marbles. Then I made a bunch of magnets from stamped images covered with either clear disks or epoxy stickers with magnets glued to their backs.

I used the Mermaid Treasure set (Mermaid, Treasure Chest), the Homeward Bound set (Clipper Ship, Compass, Iron Cross Icon), the Ahoy sailor set (Rope Knot, Anchor Icon, Ship's Wheel Icon), the Mermaid Anchor set (Dolphin sunset), and the A Pirate's Life set (Skull ).

The Ship, Sunset, Treasure Chest, Dolphin Sunset, Rope Knot, and Mermaid were colored with Copic markers. Some Spica pen was used to add a glimmery touch to the Mermaid's tail. Glitter was added to the treasure from the chest. The sky was chalked and the ocean inked with a variety of inks.

Here's the quote:
I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving . . .
to the port of heaven we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against — but we must sail and not drift, nor lie at anchor.
